Music video production
In the past I used Glitch Art Studio to make music videos. It worked nice. Then I made the mistake of updating and the app demanded an outrageous monthly subscription fee. Deleted it. Is there anything comparable out there that does not want a monthly subscription to use?

Wait when did they start charging a monthly subscription fee? Last I used Glitch Art Studio it was a paid-for app.
Edit: redownloaded to my iPhone, and it looks like there's a $40 one time fee. I was grandfathered in. If you paid for the app already, you may already be grandfathered in.
When i first downloaded it many moons ago i believe i downloaded it for free. Store tells me $39.99. That is the sort of price that tells me that they are not serious about outright sales and want everybody to pay a subscription forever. I don’t do subscriptions and $40 is heading into VST AU desktop territory. I’d think about paying for this for my Mac at that price. It is a great software. The devs are just too greedy.
I use the predecesor of jamcam (vfx) to apply beat synced fx.

Here I recorded the screen and the used the zoom fx on VFX attached to the audio….
I’ve thought abotput recording the visualization of SunVox which is pretty cool and doing the same thing.
Capcut is cool to add som vfx before, but they are not beat synced
An idea worth considering !
Have you tried Lumafusion?
If you’d pay that price for that app on desktop, why not iOS for the same app? I’m not following the logic here. Maybe I’m missing something but charging for an app you work hard on doesn’t sound greedy to me.
I can understand why the iOS version seems too expensive for him. What immediately comes to mind is that iOS software is not yours and you can't resell it. Reason no.1 why there should always be a price difference to desktop.
I do get that, it’s just $40 for iOS doesn’t seem outlandish. Unless it is the same on desktop. I thought they were insinuating $40 in general is too much for any iPad app but I may be wrong.
Jam Cam Pro and VFX by Rhythmic Visions AB are really great as you can add both audio and midi control/reaction. The former is a bit expensive to buy, I was lucky to get it for free as I helped him (Isak) a bit in the beginning.
There are so many monster money grabbers in this genre it's a nightmare.
My very first app was Glitche´ which is double the price compared to Glitch Studio, I never bought Glitche´ , lucky me. Glitch studio is awesome though I can agree the price is a bit high (but not compared to Glitche´).
Huge fan of Glitch Studio - noticed recently that is had upped the price to what I consider pretty extortionate level - I mean not long ago it was 10 bucks for the IAP, now 40? Come on? I bet this IAP will go on sale, probably on a drastic sale, at some point, so maybe worth waiting for that.
You can definitely do a lot of what it does in Lumafusion but it will take longer - unless Lumafusion has a randomise button I don’t know about! Given how much use I get out of it, I would maybe pay 40 bucks for Glitch Studio, but I would feel it was overpriced at that.
The only real downside to Glitch Studio is that it has become maybe too popular among us iOS music heads. So it might not be a bad thing to be forced to find something different to use. It seems like almost every time I see an iOS insta vid these days, it is using Glitch Studio.
I guess I should’ve gotten the IAP when I had the chance lol. Is there any other similar app? I’m planning on uploading more snippets and such and would occasionally have liked to use it, but not at that price.
Jam Cam is great!
I think vfx might be the most expensive app I have lol
Don’t sleep on CapCut also
Glitch clip is also cool if you want to only want to remix gifs
Another technique I’ve used in the past is recording the screen of my computer with vfx! Is a very cool way to “import” many many many different visuals you find in youtube super fast
I did this one like that:
Also you can pan with your camera. Of course it also works with your own recordings
That's a good idea, I've never tried but sure will some time. Thanks for the tip 😊
Don't get me wrong. I love my iPad touch surface workflow. However my Mac is far more powerful than my 2019 iPad Pro. I often use them together with Logic on the desktop. There are exceptions like LumaFusion. I do all graphics on the iPad with Affinity. Btw LumaFusion is affordable and updated regularly. No subscription. Same with Affinity. I dumped Photoshop on the Mac after it went monthly subscription.
Oh wow photoshop is subscription on mac now too? That’s a bummer. LumaFusion seems great. I downloaded Final Cut Pro for the iPad but haven’t tried it. I think Luma is a better deal since you can own it. My state charges taxes so FCP is like $70 a year for me. It’s not worth that over time, imo.
I’m iPad only so everything I do starts and finishes there.
Have you seen the upcoming Procreate Dreams? It looks awesome.
Lumafusion is excellent and affordable. You can do a lot of glitchy stuff in there. DaVinci Resolve is powerful and the free version would probably be enough for most of us. I haven’t used it much but it looks to have a steep learning curve compared to Lumafusion.
Thanks! I always forget about Resolve and then someone reminds me lol. Definitely gotta wait until I upgrade iPads though. 3.2 gb is pretty hefty for me right now
I just deleted Logic though so I do have some extra space
I switched to DaVinci Resolve for my music video projects and haven’t looked back. It’s free and packs a punch with professional-grade features, perfect for those who want to avoid monthly fees.
But when I have projects that demand intricate edits or I want a polished look, I work with this video editing team. They elevate my project by weaving complex edits, special effects, and seamless transitions that really enhance the storytelling in my music videos. Plus, it saves the headache of mastering complex software by myself.
I recently began using Davinci Resolve on my iPad Pro and my Macbook Pro (both Apple Silicon CPU) - on iPad I have bought the Studio upgrade ( 99 bucks) - very satisfied with Davinci!
When I discovered that it was possible to unlock iPad-version to full version with just a few keystrokes, everything went so much better!
99 bucks for the upgrade feels OK just to support the developers, albeit the free version seems to be 95% of the whole app…
Most interesting is the Fusion Page - so much impressive things can be done there!
