CRISPR …. Believing the unbelievable

As I said in the solar post… so much going on. If you don’t know about the CRISPR technology, this is changing the world right now.

Comments

  • I would change my own DNA if i could.....i find this science really interesting and i think it will be a big part in human future (if we have a future).

  • It was discovered 30-40 years ago so I guess most of us have heard of it in one context or another. Very fascinating it is but I can't help but wonder about over population (already a serious issue) as science find ways to make us healthier and live longer.

  • If AI gets control of CRISPR we could get better pets.

Maybe it could add another vowel or improve the acronym.

Hopefully, genetic diseases could be detected and replaced with less oneroussequences.

But we will probably see the ultra rich clone themselves for generations with cosmetic adjustments.

  • between this and the supposed ability to create human sperm and egg cells from any cell on the human body , we're looking at a wild future.

  • No future…

    yes.

The funny thing is, that in the recent decade it has become clear that DNA is constantly changing - which renders the entire narrative of cloning and stuff like CRISPR quite obsolete. The genealogists even had to invent a new term, epigenetics, to somehow adapt to the new findings while still preserving their falsified theory.

We must understand that such headlines and presentations mostly impress the general public. Real scientists, especially financially independent scientists, have a much more sober view on these things.

But we are free to believe whatever we want. Even if it is the most stupidest thing. We are free to live in fear porn. It is exciting. However, we can also choose to do real research, and follow scientific principles. This may be not so exciting, not so chic, but in the end much more rewarding.

Are you saying CRISPR is not based on real research. I thought it was.

  • of course it is based on real research. But on what basis?

I would say that most of today’s research in biology is based on false assumptions. But if I was professionally employed in this kind of research, I would certainly argue in a different way. Two of my friends work in PCR testing, and they are both fully convinced about their job. Very intelligent people. I can’t blame them - they are very successful, earn a lot of money. I would be as blind as they are if I walked in their shoes.

    Same thing really…

  • Humans think themselves gods, while basking in their monstrosity

My son has generic disease and honestly, i am really looking forward when it will be possible to fix this "god" or "nature" bug with CRISPR or other technology which comes after CRISPR.

jeez .. what is wrong on rice which is resistant to bugs, so we doesn’t need to use deadly pesticides ?

It reminds me people who were calling steam machines “devils work” in 19th century..

lets fade all scientific progress , leťs go living back to caves, just to avoid military misuse of any scientific invention, even through it has potential to help reduce suffering millions of people

Don't think I suggested that... I just mused what the military will do with this tech.

So, spill the beans... what have they done with it?

  • This will be great for ambient

More importantly, does it AUv3, and is it cross-compatible for all things M1/2.

edit: Furthermore, if I have Drambo, do I even need this.

All I will say on the matter, is the issue has been raised in part during the US Primary season. So unfortunately you’ll have to research it yourself. Science is neutral, we decide how we use this knowledge.

    :)) script writers getting lazy

    or maybe clues ?

the name that really got me looking at names ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Seed

as for the tech saving "us" ... i think that very much depends on the "us" ...

lot of eugenicists in positions of «controll»

consider the lowly mushroom ,, the death eater ,, the shit grower ,,

    powerfull ... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-66049989

nothing stopping us all accessing the mushroom's power except «controll»

and if they won't even let us have a mushroom,,, Natural, "godgiven"
they're sure as hell to keep any "good" machines for themselves.

the middlemen and their "money" trick steal and hoard.

    and did you notice,

costs for the mushroom "could spiral to A$30,000 (£15,700, $20,000) per treatment"

the "us" in this case is the likes of Ms "Beaugeois" and her friends
