Looking for AIFF file with slice info for testing
If anyone has an AIFF file that has embedded slice and tempo info and is known to work, or can tell me where to get one I would appreciate it. I'm trying to test out importing AIFF files with slice/tempo info into BeatHawk and Logic Pro.
I've used Auditor on iPad to slice and set tempo and export to AIFF but it doesn't seem to pick up the metadata in Logic Pro on iPad (via Quick Sampler), and doesn't detect it in BeatHawk when imported either, and I know it can work - there's a video on a channel by TheAudioDabbler where he exports a file from BeatMaker 2 in that format and the slices are detected although it is from six years ago, so maybe something changed.
I know that AIFF is a pretty old format and not heavily used now, but where I think it would come in handy is as format that can be used on the iPad to exchange files with slice/tempo info between apps, as opposed to exporting slices as WAV and then importing them as a set.

BM3 can save 'Apple Loops' with embedded meta-data which includes slice points.
QuickSampler does use the embedded slice points and tempo information when NOT using the optimize option when loading the file and manually enabling slice mode.
BeatHawk is a 'Sampler' so it should include well featured sample editing and slicing tools but it's more or less a 'Content Store' to sell UVI sound packs.
The AppleLoops exported from BM3 also worked in BeatHawk (I no longer BeatHawk so it's not installed on my iPads).
BM3 can save AppleLoops and it can also load them back with slice-points and other meta-data intact.
There's multiple methods to store slice meta-data and not all apps use the same method or support all methods so it's a bit of hit or miss so even though the file might contain slices in one format there's no guarantee that they will work in all apps.
Perfect example of this is the garbled 'Acid' WAV files that AudioCopy store uses but they are not 'clean' Acid files and only iMPC Pro can read them correctly as it knows which headers are 'messed up'.
Modern AppleLoops are not stored as AIFF files, they are *.caf containers.
I seldom have the need to 'pre-slice' files as the slice tools in QuickSampler and BM3 are sufficient for quick slicing.
Cheers!
Thanks so much. Some of that I learned today the hard way (Google), lol, and some is new and helpful. I don't have BM3 but I respect it and I've seen some of what it can do. I get what you're saying about not needing to pre-slice. Getting the AIFF files to be recognized in different apps seems like a challenge, and I'm enjoying seeing how far I can take it, regardless of how practical it might be. I like to see how far I can push some of these apps and what they are capable of with some creative thinking, and this forum is a goldmine for that sort of thing. Really appreciate the info!

Auditor does it just fine. Make sure that you have chosen the Apple Loops option in Audotor's slice export dialog. Playing the slices requires choosing the keyboard icon in Beathawk in the Samples tab.

I tried it exactly as you showed and it's perfect. I wanted to include a demo of this in a video for BeatHawk, so that's a big help. Thanks much.
@EdZAB : what was different about what I did from what you had tried and didn't work?
I was choosing AIF format instead of Apple loop.
