How have you handle subscriptions charges that just won't stop? / Antares

Hi,

I subscribed to Antares Auto-Tune for a few months, and trying to cancel it. And tried. It seemed to stop, but then it kept going. Have had numerous customer services email. This is all done via Fast Spring.

$15 / month ain't killing me, but it is annoying.

Any advice on how to make it stop???

Thanks,
Joe

  • Talk to your local Apple Store ?

  • Dispute the charge with your bank as fraudulent and they will refund it.

This is one of the many reasons I want to buy my software outright rather than pay for a subscription.

  • Thanks, it's not via Apple. It's for Antares AutoTune package on the Macbook VST.

  • Knock on wood, this is the first time I've had musician related subscription issues. You'd think Antares would do it well. Not the case for me.

  • If it's connected to your credit card, call the credit card company. Tell them you want to stop payment on a subscription and the vendor isn't cooperating.

  • Cancel that credit card and set up a new one. People with identity theft issues do this all the time.
Having a Visa and a high kick back card like Discover or Amex can be a good strategy as long as you
pay off the bill before you get sucked into high interest rates. There are a lot of low interest cards expecting you to
fuck up and get drowned in debt.

  • Use Privacy.com or a virtual credit card number.

  • There’s a thing called ‘chargeback’ where your card company will retrieve your money for you. That’s the case in the UK at least - I’m assuming it’s nternational?

  • Thx for the help! FYI, it’s via PayPal.

  • To cancel automatic payments on PayPal, go to your account settings, select “financial information,” then click “manage automatic payments.” Find the active payments you want to stop and click “cancel.” You can also update your payment method for certain automatic payments.

As Gus said. Also if you’re having a technical issue I’m sure the site has an faq, or a quick search to see if others had problems and what they did to solve it. Good luck

Absolutely. This is the first thing I think about when some app wants a forever subscription.

I could be wrong, but I suspect it has more to do with the subscription not being stopped in PayPal itself than with Antares at fault. I had a situation like that some years ago. I had cancelled the subscription, but the recurring payment was still triggered in PayPal. I had to switch it off there to make it stop.

  • Thanks, wim!
