When iOS won’t let you download a vid that you should be able to…what to do?
I was just trying to download this public domain video on my iPad:
https://collections.nlm.nih.gov/catalog/nlm:nlmuid-8800464A-vid
The page has a download button but when i click on that, the video just plays. Have tried seceral browsers, no joy. What's the solution?

Long tap on the "Video (MP4)" link and then "Download Linked File" works for me
Try this download site: https://9xbuddy.org/
I was able to download it on my desktop Mac using that site. Not sure about iPad.
I have Chrome installed on my iPad as it sometimes works when Safari has issues with a website.
I tried long press but didn’t get that option. Which browser did you try?
@Simon @michael_m thnx - I finally got it to work no problem in Readdle Documents btw. Michael. I had no joy in chrome, safari, edge or brave!
Do you have any popup blockers or similar addons installed? They can block download processes which depend on popups sometimes. I have an AdBlock Safari addon which also seems to block popup ads in some games, so it's clearly tinkering with some system process, so that migth be a factor if several browsers are showing the same behaviour.
Huh, that's interesting. I'm just using Safari (iPadOS 17, no extensions)
I don’t…strange! Anyway, Readdle is working like a boss, thank god!
Have you tried using iOS Shortcuts?

This is one of their gallery shortcuts to download content
It works better for smaller files. I just realized that this is a large file. But it’s a good shortcut to have.
