CME WIDI UHost - MIDI transmission issue (skipped notes)

edited October 2023 in Hardware

Hi, anybody here who has CME MIDI UHost?
I got one today, I updated USB firmware to latest 3.7 and BT Firmware to latest 2.2.1. Connection between my AKAI LPK25 MKII and iPad via UHost is OK but I have some weird issue with skipped MIDI notes I play on keyboard. For instance when I'm playing C chord multiple times in a row I'm hearing sometimes correct CEG, sometimes only CG, CE, or EG. I have no issues with the same keyboard and iPad with wired connection. Issue is also visible in MIDI monitor (MIDI Sniffer) on iPad.
Any idea?

  • if the device youre connecting to uhost is the problem, you could get another cme product to transmit midi bte to the uhost

  • I have tried another keyboard with uHost and behaviour was significantly better. Since I'm used to AKAI, I returned uHost.

Did you buy OTG cable ?

Widi uhost sends to ipad. Keyboard sends to uhost but the OTG cable might mean it can stall the midi from keyboard. So it sends data to ipad correctly.

Unfortunately I don't know if I have OTG cables or not. IMHO it shouldn't be a reason of my issue because OTG is about connection and it either works or it doesn't, nothing in between. It is not about quality of transmission IMO.
Maybe I will check uHost again with original CME cables in future but it is not so important for me now.
edit: I have got a confirmation from CME rep that my issue wasn't caused by cable. That's all I know.
