Latest on MIDI Clock Messages/Sync
Hi
I see there are tons, and tons, and more tons of messages - and I'm having trouble deciphering the current state.
I have a Morningstar MIDI controller, that can send a MIDI clock message to a device (like my iPad running AUM). I want to use it as a Tap Tempo, where I tap out the beat, and have it send this out via MIDI clock. Here's an example:
How [what software, what settings, what _______] do I need to allow AUM to read the MIDI clock messages, and set the tempo in AUM accordingly?

AUM doesn’t receive midi clock.
Either use a DAW that supports MIDI clock (Beatmaker 3, Loopy Pro, Drambo etc), or convert MIDI clock to Ableton LINK sync, or let your MC8 send CC messages (from 3:27 in the video) that you'll MIDI map to tap tempo in AUM.
Audiobus is far and away the best Clock to Ableton Link bridge IMO. It handles incoming clock like a champ, with great smoothing of jitter and can bridge that to Link, including Start/Stop, to slave AUM until it gets the ability itself some day. It has per Input and Output delay offset as well.
It doesn't have to be doing anything else and doesn't consume a lot of resources. Nothing needs to be loaded into it. All it needs is to have the clock source enabled, and Link + Link Start/Stop enabled - and it needs one audio output to the main system out to keep it from unloading due to inactivity. No sound will come out of this audio output.
