3 rows of piano-keys would be nice.
A 'down arrow' to add rests could be handy as well.
I admit I've not gotten this app yet since SunVox covers my iOS tracking needs more than enough
On the desktop it's Logic, Renoise & SunVox all the way...
I just got an M8 Tracker (which is incredible!), so it'll be interesting to compare and contrast.
It’s free to try, just in case. But yeah SunVox is hard to beat.
OK, a few questions and bits of feedback after a quick play:
Is there a way to paste the same pattern to a different cell (or just choose the same number after creating a new pattern)? For example, copy and paste '01' so that you have more than one instance of it in the song? This is handy because then you can have a number of different instances throughout the song, where changing a note in one of them changes it in all of the instances. Currently, it seems that copying and pasting can only result a new pattern number (copying and pasting 01 gives you 02) with the copied pattern's data in it - this is useful in itself, but both options are good for tracker workflow. Maybe there could be 2 paste options on the song screen ('duplicate' or 'clone')?
The lock icon in the pattern screen also locks stuff on the song screen. I would expect it only to affect the screen it's in, as the lock icon doesn't exist on the song screen... maybe there can be another lock icon in that screen? I say this because I hit the lock in the pattern screen and saw that it stopped me from entering new notes, but then went back to the song screen and was temporarily confused at how I couldn't create any new patterns!
Can we have a default pattern length option, please? Or have the next pattern default to the same steps value as the previously created one.
I like the keyboard a lot, it's super handy for entering notes quickly. And it's easy to whizz around the screens. Power users will be creating songs very speedily, I feel.
Clone is not a bad idea, I may do that.. I had paste create unique patterns because I didn’t want to make it about manipulating numbers, like in traditional trackers. I thought it would get confusing for new users. I wanted users to arrange the song by moving them around. And then once you clone a pattern, how would you change its number?
That’s fair.
Ok that’s doable.
Nice!
How this works on the M8 Tracker is that cloning a pattern creates one with the next 'new' number. So 10 would clone to 11, but if there is already an 11 then it would clone to 12 instead or the next free number available. The cloned pattern features the same note data, commands and assigned instruments as the original.
Just to say, I'm a tracker noob and the M8 has been pretty much my first experience of the workflow (or certainly the first where it has clicked). So you're getting a new user perspective here too!
@samplefox any updates on the suggested ‘features’ and workflow enhancement requests?
I had high hopes for this app, too bad there are no new updates.
Its only been 2 months….and the past 2 months have been holidays….
