Sample Alchemy can no longer find the samples - how do I even find what they were?

So Sample Alchemy has decided it cannot find any of the samples to reference in about 50 patches I have created. Nothing has changed, no folders moved. However I can find no way to see what sample is missing so I can find it - is there something I am missing?

Edit: it claims the song is a Logic file for Mac (it isn’t) and I need to consolidate it on there. I don’t have Logic for Mac and used the trial up ages ago so I can’t use it again. WTF?

Edit 2: Very odd - I have a backup of the project I have been using, it's 168mb. The latest version that can't find the samples is 1.6mb. On putting a copy of my backup in the Logic folder and loading it up, it has the same error and then resaves the 168mb file as 1.6mb, basically clearing out all of the samples. I've tried adding the Media folder from the package within the saved file back into any of the 1.6mb files - essentially adding the missing media back - and it doesn't help, still can't find it, and again deletes the contents of the media folder when it saves.

  • Is it possible that you've updated either iOS or Logic Pro since you created those patches? There might be some incompatibility. Such things are sometimes fixed by further updates.

There’s been that minor update to Logic which I think I did but iOS is still the same. I don’t get the whole deleting the samples thing though. It’s so odd.

Yes this happened to me too, now I have 30-40 empty shells…wtf?

    Insult to injury…
You have to delete the empty patches one at a time.

I am afraid to make any more sample alchemy patches as it so far has shown to be a buzz killer
My quick sampler patches did not disappear? Gladly!

Apple needs to jump to it with this next update and do some fixing…
As it stands it’s about half way there…
My favorite thing is the auto save that happens but no intentional save…which basically means if you pull up a project and make any changes it’ll be saved whether you want to save it or not. So if you have work you don’t want to chance ruining make a duplicate file first and then rename it…work on that project, instead of the original.

Have you filed an bug rapport to Apple about this?

  • That sucks.. would not motivate me to waste time creating custom patches.
    Hope they fix it soon.

  • Apple really don’t want us making custom patches as there is no way to really share them…unless you want to load faux projects and save each patch in them…then you have no control over where they go, and no control over backing them up unless it’s thru a project. Wack

  • Looking at the release notes for 1.1, it did say something about this:

Samples added to Sample Alchemy from the Files app are now correctly found when the project is reloaded.

+1, that is why I asked in the other thread...
