Audulus 4 Free Preview
Just in case some of you are not aware, you can download Audulus 4 and view patches for free. An IAP will open the capability of creating your own patches. Here's a patch you can check out once you download the app. https://forum.audulus.com/t/migration-project-breaking/3354?u=futureaztec

This patch is a crackle fest on my fairly recent iPad 2021 (CPU load shown at around 120%).
It's a large project but are the modules really this demanding?
On my ipad (an ipad6), the cpu runs from 200% to 1000% and so no sound is made.
70% of sequencers, gaters, and quantizers. Is it possible to just listen to the finished piece?
Edit: I removed the blunt parts!
Tough crowd for a patch share! 😂
I’m on an old iPad also but interested to break this one down and learn a little. Nice one @futureaztec 👍
Yeah, we should be more forgiving and grateful. I’m going to test this patch over the weekend. @futureaztec, thank you for sharing. Sorry for my bluntness earlier.
Thanks for sharing. Audulus is a great app that I need to learn more thoroughly. The IAP also unlocks the ability to use it as an AUV3.
Maybe someone with a high-end Mac on MacOS 13+ can try running it?
It’s no surprise that this would burn down an iPad. Lots of graphics, lots of processing. At some point we have to accept the limitations of this platform. Not everything can be achieved here.
Which is ok. Constraint can be inspiration.
On my iPad M2 iOS 17, the CPU is at 83-85%. No crackles.
Huh. 79% and no audio issues here.
I always have to work to remember how to load new patches into this thing.
What iPad model do you have?

iPad Pro 6th gen, m2.
I get the sense that this patch requires an m1 or better. Lots of Audulus patches don’t.
I have posted a number of Audulus 4 patches that run fine on iPad 6 (non-pro) on patchstorage.
I listened. It was an experience I liked. From 0:30 to 2:00, it’s like discovering a magical new genre. I love experimentation and unconventional work. For all that effort and enjoyment, bravo! 🤩
Gonna test it on my iPad later tonight and see if it works. It’s an M1 Air so hopefully so.
My 5th gen M1 Pro can’t handle this without crackling, even with all other apps closed, when I run Audulus standalone. But if I run it in AUM, it is fine, hovers around 85%
Why would it work better as an AUv3 in AUM than standalone?
You might have a bigger buffer set in AUM than the standalone uses
For me, standalone at 30 fps takes 79%, while 60 fps takes 83–85%. In AUM, 256 sample buffer take 85%, 512 take 83%, and 1024 sample buffer take 79% of CPU usage. No crackling.
M2 iPad Pro, iOS 17
Your M2 may be more performant than Gavinski’s . CPU % is (see the wiki for details) tricky sometimes to interpret because of the way throttling and core allocation works.
Yeah I have an M1. Good point about buffer size 👍
