Keeping Up With The Jurassians ...

Very good! A guest spot on Bad Gear beckons
Ha! Thanks. Yeah, this meme has way too much going on in it..
It all started when someone posted these 4 pix of toy dinosaurs they were giving away on a Facebook giveway group. I took one look at it and immediately saw it as all these dinosaurs rushing around trying to keep up with the crowd. Then I thought of all the gear I've acquired and jettisoned keeping up with the trending of the decades, from my ARP and Rhodes in the 70s to my DX in the 80s, then thinking I had to replace all my hardware with VSTs in the 2000s, then thinking desktop had to be replaced with iPad... Now everybody is chasing after vintage hardware again, and there's this whole "DAWless Jamming," Hardware Jams groups, and the all-consuming obsession with modular...
Then you've got the Jurassic Park reference, the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" pun --- and then I thought about Bowie's song Fashion -- which has to be one of the most brilliant statements on mindless FOMO ever -- "Turn to the left. Turn to the right." So I tried to work that in..
A classic example of the Murphy's Law of "The more time you spend on a meme, the fewer likes it gets".
Beep Beep!
Your graphics work is so fucking good. There used to be stories in National Lampoon that looked like this.
As always, I’m impressed by the quality of your creations. It shows ceaseless effort to do it right.
F-ckin hell, lol. 😂 It's funny because it's the truth. Music producers are a strange breed indeed lol. I'm one of them, always bouncing between different workflows when one grows stale for me. Then again, I couldn't be faffed with what the "cool dinos" are currently into. I love DAWless jamming in AUM for instance when I want to form some sort of Ambient ish.
However my current workflow is Koala Sampler standalone. Once Marek added the bussing mixer IAP, I ditched other workflows for Koala. I can sample oneshots in that via AUM, and then continue work in the standalone app easy peasy. Cubasis 3 for mastering the track.
Have you ever played with a sampler before, whether Koala, BM3, or hardware like PO-33, any MPC, etc?
