Drum App With Acoustic/World Samples(Peter Gabriel)
Hello all. It's me the noob with yet another question(thanks so far for all of the great advice). I've been listening to some Peter Gabriel and watching some of his old studio documentary videos on YouTube.
I'm looking for a drum machine with matrix style sequencing that has a great collection of real sampled drums (not electronic). A collection of exotic world samples is a plus. I'm talking Peter Gabriel.
I would like the matrix like sequencer to work well with Cubasis MIDI clock and transport controls. I don't want to draw notes on a piano roll.
I was looking at a Beatmaker 2 as a possibility, but I don't know what kind of sample library it has. Thanks.

DrumJam has a good selection of ethnic percussion instruments (velocity layered) that can be controlled via other MIDI sequencers. It also has a bunch of percussion loop elements you can mix and match for export or live playback, if you don't want to sequence anything. It does not have a built-in sequencer.

The hi-hat "Red Rain" intro was played by Stewart Coppeland, so it will be har to replicate it.
I was always jealous of Peter Gabriel being able to just call up Stewart Copeland for hi hats.
Also, +1 on DrumJam. No contest really.
Yes, Drumjam plays in his own league.
Given that Pete Lockett helped on the design of DrumJam and collaborated with Gabriel, I'd say that's the one to go with!
@funjunkie27, good point, I probably should have lead with that piece of information
Good point indeed!
Pete Lockett played all of the loops and sampled the instruments (I think).
Every time I stop by this forum, I learn something; and I haven't even scratched the surface of midi or synth based/electronic music. Thank you all.

+1. Synchronicity indeed....
The Rock Drum Machine guy also has an Afro Latin Drum Machine that's good. It's not expensive so it makes a good supplement to Drum Jam.
Drum Jam is it? Nothing with a sequencer?
Check this out:

Your sequencer will be inside whichever DAW you decide to buy. Anything else will be redundant anyway.
Drumjam is awesome. You can sequence it from other apps, but I love it better to just play it. You should also check out impaktor, which is a little different than you asked for but will fill that role well. It will be a nice complement to drumjam.
I got drum jam. Thanks.
