VADrumSM have Auv3 effects and I didn’t know

Crazy thing I just barely found out is that Ryo Togawa’s Drum app VADrumSM have Auv3 effect support. This is a crazy thing to be finding out now after having this app for a long time now. How come I haven’t heard this hasn’t been talked about. To add Auv3 effects to the drums is a win win. You can even add to individual sounds Kicks, Snares, HiHats, Toms and on the Main Mix. What a blessing to have. I checked VADrum 2 and couldn’t find any option for Auv3 effects there.

  • VADrumSM is made to be standalone so it hosts AUV3 effects so you can still use effects on your drum sounds. VADrum2 is an AUV3 itself and can thus be processed further by other AUV3s so it has no reason to host them.

Plus you can’t have a host within a host so it would be pointless either way.

It’s funny that you mentioned that. I was having a conversation the other day about that. And yea currently you can’t host within a host but about the future is that anything is possible, some Dev just needs to make it happen. I was having a convo with someone about MiRack on how it can host now as well as be hosted in a host app. And how my MiRack Auv3 IAP isn’t showing as paid for when in a host, which is a problem if my patches is using the new Auv3 module and we can’t use it in the host like AUM, then that means the patch/project is useless. I emailed the guys at MiRack about that and haven’t heard anything back. In addition to that email I also asked for an internal keyboard in MiRack because it doesn’t have a keyboard that you have to use something like AUM or AudioBus to access a midi keyboard for the midi patches.

  • My understanding is the auv3 hosting restriction is something imposed by Apple. So unless they change their policy it’s unlikely to happen

As @FordTimeLord said it all rests on Apples shoulders for now. If they take that restriction out we may have some luck but I wouldn’t hold my breath for now.

I have my own favorite keyboards that I use so I doubt I’d use the one in MiRack anyway but I could see it being useful if you’re only using MiRack as a sound module for hardware or a computer.
