A short happy tune for a Viola

For anybody seeking relief from the prevailing horror / slash / gore fest we have at the moment 😊

  • @GeoTony, festive and cheerful! Nice work!

  • Thanks @azul3D_Apps . I did sneak 3 instances of PM in for the backing 🎹🎹🎹

  • I came for the Happy Tune but stayed for the Viola… plucked.

  • Many thank @McD , I do prefer the SWAM Viola over the Violin.
Given two similarly titled tracks posted on the same day it’s interesting, in a very non scientific way, to compare their success (I’m not sure that’s the right word but you know what I mean)

‘A short happy..’ has had 35 views, 2 comments and on SoundCloud 20 listens and 1 like.
‘A long melancholy…’ has had 31 views, 5 comments and on SoundCloud 78 listens and 1 like (and a comment)

So what can we gleam from this… probably nothing but…

If listens are in anyway linked to views then more people prefer ‘dark ambient’ music to happy classical(ish) music?
    Or
the Soundcloud algorithm pushes ambient more than classical (they were the tags I used)?
    Or
    people prefer Banjos to Violas?

Also I find it interesting (and gratifying) that people are happy to tackle a > 7 minute track more than a 2 minute track. I thought it would be the other way round.

All of the above is probably a load of b(*&^cks. What do you think ?

  • I love this. Beautiful melody that stays with me. That little six note “echo” at the end of the melody is perfect. The switch to plucked is really good. This is just good old fashioned composition done well.

  • I like the viola too; it has a unique character when you hear it solo - difficult to describe - a little creaky - a little worried. The short second melody was the 'happiest' part I think.
