A transatlantic collaboration ... what will they think of next?!
"Distant Ghosts" started in Chicago with @Paulieworld , then whizzed back and forth across the North Atlantic for a month or so to me in Scotland, before eventually being mixed and produced in Spain... a truly international effort.
Paul suggested to me back in August that we should go for a collaboration. Being of a musically insular persuasion, my immediate reaction was of shear panic - two people collaborating to make music?! What will they think of next?
...in all seriousness I have for many years delighted in being a one-man band - work at my own pace, make all the artistic decisions good or bad, and produce music that is 100% my own, good or bad. I suspect that applies to a fair percentage of forum members.
Amazingly, having taken the plunge and dived in, I really enjoyed the experience. I believe Paul did too! This has been a true joint effort - almost all the instrumentation was Paul's, I added some drums, a couple bars of guitar but my contribution was mainly the vocals. We are both chuffed how it worked out!

I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with Paul, a lovely experience. This is excellent, lovely guitar work… would have liked more. Your voice is very distinctive (in a good way) like a cross between Fish, Roger Chapman and goodness knows who 🤨 Great work the two of you !
Thanks @GeoTony - I agree that the collaboration with @Paulieworld was a pleasure - and actually good for me to crawl out of my solitary musical shell for a change! I was sorely tempted to, ahem, decorate the entire song with soaring Gilmore-esk noodlings, but somehow I resisted. Fish has been a significant influence over the years since discovering Marillion back in '83 I believe. Thank you for listening.
