  • Shiiit that’s expensive

  • edited November 2023

Sounds pretty good and one thing I never seen before: several different options for sustain pedal, I wish that was something other would adapt, really cool.

I'll never pay that kind of money for this (it's pretty close to Pianoteq which I have yet to buy). I think the Swam instruments are to expensive but, that's me. Also, they want me to pay for linking to their webpage, wtf!, maybe I misunderstood that somehow(?).

  • They are following the Pianoteq pricing model: Pay full-price once and you get a license that works on your iPad and your computer. It is $30 cheaper than Hammond B-3X from IK Multimedia. Also it is only 22 MB (vs. 1.1GB for Hammond B-3X). My hope is that they have a great Black Friday sale. I am a big fan of most (but not all) GSi apps. This one sounds like an (expensive) winner.

I am amazed that it is only 22 MB with all of the options available.

  • Ah I didn’t realize the license is for both iPad and desktop that’s not bad really then. Yeah I like GSI’s physical modeling a lot I’ve just about written off samples based instruments at this point because the physically modeled stuff is a lifesaver on space and much more expressive

That’s the benefit of physical modeling vs samples.

  • Love GSIs apps. All their Organs that I have are fantastic. Don’t really need another tonewheel as I already have plenty. Plus I don’t use desktop so doesn’t seem worth it to pay the $100 when I’ll only use the iOS version. The first app is already great for those of us that don’t need it.

Unless this replaced it and it’s no longer on the App Store…

  • For those curious the demo mode is free and does load as an AUV3. You have a split second of silence every so minute I think but it’s nice to be able to actual demo the app. It sounds absolutely fantastic. I thought I was content with Galileo 2 and HaNon, but looks like I might be shelling out for the original version of this one. $100 for the new one is just too much when I don’t have a desktop.

  • There's a charge just to be able to log in to your account?! I mean, it doesn't affect me as this is not an app I'll be buying anyway, but WOW

I agree. I only produce on iPad. There are a lot of new people coming to iPad for Logic Pro after it came out. Unlike people who have been producing on iPad exclusively for a long time, those who have been producing only on Macs and Windows for years are used to paying $100+ for VSTs, so it might not be as big of a shocker for them. I hope this kinda price doesn’t become something we’ll see more of on iPad now.

    I don’t know. Maybe I’m being cynical.

I follow the developer's Facebook page. He had all sorts of challenges with Apple regarding the linking of a desktop license to the iPad license and couldn't get the app approved for quite some time. I suspect that this nominal charge was some sort of concession to get the app approved.

Ah, food analysis, that might maker sense. Wonder how pianoteq managed it tho

That makes sense, actually, just something I've never seen before and struck me as odd!

I feel for these developers as many of them face a LOT of challenges

I’ve tried out both and vb3 mk2 is really great but there’s something about the first version that I just love and prefer so it’s a good buy still

The $100 VB3-II 2023 version is for the Hammond B3 completist. It has 91 modeled tone wheels. There is a user base for such a detailed modeling of this history keyboard/organ. It’s just NOT the user base of the ABF.

Over at https://forums.musicplayer.com/forum/28-the-keyboard-corner/ it’s viewed as a gift because many already own VB3-II and this for them is an update AND the gift of a free IOS version. Similar to the PianoTeq 8 IOS introduction where they work up and got a new IOS toy.

For me it’s a Modeled Instrument app at 22MB vs the IK Multimedia and Hammond;s Hammond B-3X at 1.1GB. Many believe modeled instruments are just more responsive and provide more customization.

Thanks for this. Makes me feel better about not missing out much with the newer version lol. I thought I was covered with what I had but damn it really sounds fantastic. Instantly knew I needed lol

  • Anyone have any opinions on this vs the Blue3 app?
