Salome (Bram Bos) Just Had a Fantastic Update. Let me Walk You Through it!

I really liked Salome when it came out, but I had a few niggles about it lacking certain features I felt would make it killer. Well, it has just an an update making it truly a dream come true for me. It is now an insanely capable drone machine with a few features that give it an edge, in certain respects, over even hardware MPE controllers. This 17-minute video is a spoken walkthrough of those new features and explains why they are so useful.

Please smash the like and comment if you find the video useful. Donation links are below if you’re feeling generous, I make so little from YouTube that it is really essential I get community support if I am going to continue being able to do my walkthroughs and giveaways.

This will be a premiere. Has been a while since I did one, come in and join people in the live text chat during the premiere if you’re free!

  • Thanks @Gavinski for the heads up and detailed demo of the updated features. @Brambos continues to be the Michelangelo of
    touch screen interfaces.

Cheers McD! Yes this update is really worth getting excited about.

  • @brambos is one of the goats (if not the g.o.a.t.) of iOS music apps.

We should have an ABF Hall of Fame yearly event and induct developer, one member and one creator.
I hope someone runs with the idea… I’d be perfectly happy to submit nominees and vote for a ballot, etc.

Agreed. He even prompted me to glue my iPad to the ceiling to use it.

    I’ll get my coat…

  • Salome’s new 4octave MPE grid is super kool! As is Bram Bos! 👍😻🚀🐬🎹🎧

So long as one of the creator is @LinearLineman ! One of the OGs in this forum. And another for @iOSTRAKON , one of the reasons I started diving into Ambient and experimental in the first place.

  • Great review, this app is still on my shortlist.

For sure one of the best to ever do it and I’d be hard pressed NOT to pick him as my favorite. Never released a dull or bad app.

  • Great update :)

However, I don’t get what’s supposed to be going on with “auto-strip silence from recordings”

    1. I made a recording and left gaps of silence, but the gaps of silence weren’t auto-stripped
    2. What if I want some silent gaps? Can you turn off auto-strip silence”

It’s quite possible I’m misinterpreting what’s intended with the new auto-strip feature. Has anyone got a clear idea of how and when it works?

It just strips silence before and after the recording. Silent gaps inside your recording will be left untouched. The silence detection threshold after the recording is set lower to make sure that your effect tails are included until they are below the hearing threshold.

Ah. Gotcha. Loving the app! Thanks again for creating it!

When I really click with a new app, I want to know every little detail :)
