Solved: Extra songs when playing Apple Music in car
I have been looking online for a solution to this, but can’t seem to find an answer.
I use Bluetooth to connect my phone to my car, and in the past whatever album I select from Apple Music has played in its entirety.
Since buying a new iPhone 15, I now get half a dozen songs appended to the end of any album I play. I would guess they are ‘recommendations’, as they mostly seem related to the album.
As this only occurs in the car I wondered if the car is responsible, but there don’t seem to be any relevant settings that would pull in extra songs.
Maybe there’s a setting somewhere that I can’t find, but it’s mildly annoying to hear songs at the end of each album that I didn’t plan on listening to.
Anyone got any ideas?

No idea why you're getting it in the car only (using CarPlay?) but this little button is the culprit usually.
Thank you - you got it!
Not sure why it was selected unless I accidentally did it at some point. I’ll check it out later to be sure that this fixed it.
I use Spotify but it’s the same way. If you don’t have anything queued up, once the album is done it starts playing recommended tracks based on your preferences.
Not sure why that is an included feature. Doesn’t it just make it like listening to a radio station? The whole reason I have a streaming service is so I don’t have to listen to some other person’s sequencing of songs that I may or may not want to listen to:
I hate how auto playback starts for the last app used as soon as the Bluetooth pairs in the car even though I killed the app before coming back to the car! Someone decided for me that I actually like having the shit scared out of me 30 seconds after I start the car just because I forgot to turn the volume down on the stereo. 😂
Yeah, that "infinity" button is the culprit. I use Spotify normally, but Apple Music would decide to start playing a song from my purchased list (I don't have the Apple Music sub) whenever I'd hook it up and turn on the radio. Annoying.
Man, I'm so glad I just keep my music collection as WAV / MP3 files in a folder structure like they did in the 90s. My music library is absolutely sacred to me and the thought of random third parties having control over it and/or deciding when / what to play rolls up my toenails!
I think it’s there as a “cover their ass” for people being on the phone and driving. So if someone crashes and tries to blame Spotify they can say they have that feature to keep you from having to change the song. At least that’s what it was billed as initially. I’ve had Spotify for 10+ years so it knows my taste really well so even if that does happen to me, it still plays good songs.
I have a playlist with something like 20,000 tracks and half the time I just put that on shuffle and keep on truckin lol but I get what you mean for sure. It can be annoying when you’re wanting to only listen to one band. I would like a feature where if one album ends it starts their next album in chronological order. For when your diving into an entire discography.
Does your car not have an option to turn that off? My last two cars have had an option to turn off autoplay (although like everything else it’s buried in menus where I least expect to find it).
It's not a CarPlay system, it's a Kenwood stereo I installed myself. No, it doesn't have that option.
I'm thoroughly trained now to turn the damn stereo off. It's just the idea that someone would assume I want an app I purposely force closed to come back to life without me telling it to that pisses me off. 😂
