Should I use NS2 or Koala Sampler Standalone?

So I've been stuck in a creative block on my upcoming "2005" EP. The big hurdle this time is deciding between Koala Sampler Standalone and Nanostudio 2 as my main creative app. Here are the pros of each app...

NS2 Pros - Automation, AUv3 plugins, easier to process vocals, quicker mixing, and I could technically master each track in each separate project file to then import into Cubasis and arrange them into an EP.

Koala Sampler Standalone Pros - Easier to get in a creative mood, less processing power required, more fun, and Koala is in constant development whereas NS2 isn't.

One major NS2 con lies within Beathawk itself - something the bloody AUv3 doesn't remember its settings within most AUv3 hosts. One major Koala con is I have to master the tracks in Cubasis 3, not just arrange them to a timeline.

Anyways, I've attached a poll and would like some advice as to which app would be better to use and why you think it. Looking for some thoughtful opinions. Thank you. :)

EDIT - I will be producing this entirely on my iPhone, so if you think up another app I can use, it must be universal between iPhone and iPad.

EDIT 2 - Would be handy if I had the poll attached, ugh.

I'm confused by this seeming non-sequitur. Did you mean Beathawk or Koala?

Oops, I should specify in that I plan to use Beathawk on a couple of tracks. I can sample it in Koala and Koala will remember everything. Beathawk as an AUv3 in NS2 doesn't always remember everything.

  • Why not Koala in NS2? With NS2's routing possibilities you should be able to sample Beathawk into Koala inside NS2, I think.

That's an idea actually. I'll have to play around with that.

Heck, why not NS2 and Koala both in AUM if you really want some crazy flexibility.

Or better yet, Loopy Pro. Best of ALL worlds.

  • What’s all this mastering in another app business? Go all in on one or the other. If it was me I’d use Koala since it’s easier on a phone and there’s little to be distracted by.

Does Loopy Pro have automation yet?

Mastering helps make the track ready for release.

    No.

  • I think I'm going to use NS2, and if Beathawk gives me any trouble, sample oneshots from Beathawk and use Salome. 🤷‍♂️

Really depends upon your preferred workflow. I enjoy NS2 so much that I will take samples from other apps and import them to NS2, no matter if AUv3 or IAA (yay for AudioShare!). I also like having a project archived in NS2 with only Obsidian and Slate. Nothing to get messed up by changes to iOS (that caused a lot of problems form me over the years) or disappearing apps (happened once and I won’t get caught off guard again). I don’t have Koala so I don’t know what the benefit would be of a Koala only project.

True but I've done Koala-only projects. But very sage advice here. :) Thanks mate.

It's a sexist term anyway. I refuse to do it on principle.
