Crystalline vs Sparkverb- Opinions?
Title says it all. Both seem attractive, but I don’t want to buy both. Would love to hear pros and cons from people who have used them.
Comments
I have both, I use Crystalline a lot more than Sparkverb. They're both very tweakable but Crystalline has better controls IMO, it can be tempo-synced and the sound-shaping options are both more extensive and more interesting.
You know Fabfilter has dropped a new reverb, right?
Still… I’m a reverb fan and I’d put Crystaline 1st is a heads match. It has some magical features that create spaces beyond traditional reverb designs. Probably demo’ed well because it was a big deal when it dropped. The user interface takes a lot of study to get down but just poking around always seemed to quickly show a good result.
Crystalline! (I have SparkVerb too)
I don’t have Sparkverb, though it seems great. I do have Crystalline though and it’s at least a top 5 reverb, if not a top 2/3. And I have almost every reverb on iOS except that one. It’s really a fantastic app.
Liked Sparkverb when it came out, but I think it has been lapped by the competition, especially from reverbs like Cascade.
Transit give you the great Crystalline reverb with less controls. Me like simple controls.
Thanks, all. I do have Cascade, but if I get another I think it’ll be Crystalline.
Should be on sale right now. Baby Audio is having a big sale. So may be best to grab it soon before the sale is over.
I am a bit noob and never use this kind of fx app before. Crystalline sounds amazing in youtube demos and it is on sales now. Tempting.
I just wonder how can I apply a fx from the app in a particular moment in the timeline (instead of all the time of a selected instrument track) inside a daw? (I use beatmaker3 and GarageBand). Would a daw able to record how I control the fx, pushing the buttons/faders..etc in real time?
So are you just wanting the effect on one spot of one track?
If so, you could always clip that part to a new track and add the effect on that track. Or you could try automating the mix knob to turn the wet signal from 0 to whenever you want it.
Good suggestion. Thank you.
Adding a new track should be the easiest way.
For automating, is it only work for midi cc values, volume…something like that? Are those fxs in the app related to cc values?
GarageBand is kinda sparse on automation so I’m not entirely sure there. That’s the basic idea (applying a midi cc value and automating that) but I’m not sure if GarageBand is capable of that or not. Beatmaker 3 should be able to though.
Ok. I figured that out in BM3. Automation just record all my action taken to the fx app. I don't need to handle with tedious cc values. Very Nice.
Yep it’s much better and easier! Glad you got it figured out
