Audiothing Things Flip EQ is Out

Intro Price: $1.99, ends November 30th. Full Price: $4.99

Appstore Blurb:

Things Flip EQ is an easy-to-use tilting EQ plugin with mid/side mode. Turn the main knob to the right, and you get more highs and less lows; turn it to the left, and lows are boosted while highs are attenuated. You can choose the cutoff frequency of the EQ with the Cutoff control, or increase the gain of the EQ with the Boost button.

Things Flip EQ can also be applied to either the mid or side of a stereo signal to further enhance the stereo depth.

  • @ Killer price and it’s super useful. Nice.

  • That was the quickest 2 quid I've spent in a while, lol. Pretty useful tool for quickly balancing mixes.

  • Wow $2?? Well obviously I had to get it lol

Heh, snap! From headline to pushing the buy button in record time!

  • I've always had a thing for Tilt EQs so this was a 'no-brainer' for me...

  • After spending a little time with it, it’s pretty good. Especially for $2. Now we just need Motors next 👀

Yes indeed! Motors is the glaring omission so far.

Lol. Cheaper than a small coffee from Starbucks. 😂 Lasts much longer too.

In case someone is wondering both TB Equalizer and Fab Pro EQ can also do tilt EQ (I got curious about this type of EQ and I did a bit of research).

    I owe you 2€! 👍
Felt like I badly needed a tilt eq, already had one (FF) and have never ever used it.

  • This Flippy one adds nice harmonic saturation with boost and soft-clip enabled, something that is quite hard to accomplish with FF Pro-Q 3 and TB Equalizer without using additional plug-ins.

Someone was recently asking for a single knob DJ filter and this Tilt EQ feels like it could serve that purpose. It seems a bit more musical than a simple high pass low pass.

It definitely could create a nice moment or two in a track with a little automation.

  • And the desktop version is also on sale:

This is very true, but sometimes it is easier and quicker to just place a dedicated plugin on the effects rack and adjust one or two knobs and boom, onto the next plugin. And as @Samu pointed out, it also has saturation and soft clip.

I use TB EQ in AUM when I do my more Ambient experiments. Very straightforward to shape sound the way I see fit in creative ways.

  • Sure @Samu @jwmmakerofmusic, never said this plugin is not useful but just wanted to point out something I discovered. Also the saturation is very nice and surely together with the mid/side settings worth the price (even if I think I'll do with other tools I already have).

Of course mate. :) All good.

Yeah it’s nice to know in case someone has one of those and can’t afford this one.

But I also agree having a dedicated app is useful. No wrong opinions here :)

I agree. :) All of these points of view are valid, but that's only my opinion. ;)

Like this a lot, but I just couldn’t get the mix/mid/side switches to move their position, until I found that they only move when you click on the font itself.. Just a little detail but that could be done better.

-> Make sure to put an lfo on that tilt knob, it’s great how it evolves the sound!

Yeah, I don't like the way Audiothing implement that, it's not normal for switches on iOS to work like that. They have a few apps with switches that act a bit weirdly. Maybe fire them an email and ask them to change it?

    Just did! :)

  • Carlo from Audiothing writes back to think of it like a slider/knob, click, hold, and then drag UP or DOWN to change the value.

For me it’s not a biggie at all but my tendency is to swipe the slider to left or right :)

Hmm, strangely, I am able to use it either way at the moment - vertical or horizontal swipes both working. But I remember when I tried it before I wasn’t managing to get it to change with horizontal swipes. Maybe it’s a bit temperamental about the way it is touched, anyway, working great for me now that I tested again.

  • Flip EQ was the first app where I discovered by accident having the option to manually enter in numbers, just hold down any knob for 3-4 seconds…

  • Love the UI. I know it’s easier on simpler plug-ins like this, but damn, my aging eyes don’t do well with micro fonts.

I like it too, everything nice and big. And I can think of a few other desktop devs who would doubtless still have used bloody microfonts despite the small number of UI elements lol.

Let the battle agains the use of microscopic fonts and UI-elements begin :sunglasses:

With this 'battle' in mind I applaud AudioThing for their courage to not fall into the microscopic mayhem trap that plagues too many desktop-ports...

I’m in! I like the idea of praising developers who care for visually impaired musicians. Those other developers who use small, minuscule fonts actually don’t want fonts and lettering at all, but they don’t have enough guts and talents to actually execute this design.

Is this insult good enough? 😂
