PlantWave connectivity possibilities with iOS and SP-404 MkII?
Is anyone here using a Plant Wave, or multiple Plant Wave devices?
I have been blessed to be loaned one by a friend, until next Spring. My use case is for the creation of ambient, meditative ambient, and meditative ambient soundbaths. All live, but also for those live sessions to be recorded.
I'm waiting for a MIDI cable to connect it to the Digitone, which another generous soul is sending to me on loan. But besides that, I'm interested to output the PlantWave into my iPhone and/or iPad, either as audio input into AUM, or some other routing, so that I can use my iOS device as an effects chain, to add reverb and delay, maybe even granular processing.
Can anyone here tell me if that is possible, and if so, do I need an audio interface, if so, what type would work best, and also, what the simplest and cleanest setup would be. I'm currently just connecting via the PlantWave app and bluetooth to my phone, and then bluetoothing the audio out to my studio monitors. But I want to add some effects too, to a live performance with my bonsai tree, the PlantWave, in a silent sitting and meditation session I'm hosting next month, in person. Later, I will also want to share live via Zoom broadcast also.
Key points:
What cables and connections do I need to do these things?
What would be the best routing setup?
What would be the simplest routing setup?
Finally, I'm also wondering, if the iOS option isn't possible, or even if it is, could I output via cable to the SP-404 MkII, and use the effects bus on that, and if so, what routing do I need, as it's an audio interface too?
Any tips would be most welcomed and appreciated.

You can't get the audio from the PlantWave app over to any other app as they haven't implemented any audio protocol to do that.
Unless they've done something to make the audio only compatible with Bluetooth, I assume you can listen via earbuds? If you can, then you should also be able to get the audio out to an interface. Can the SP-404 receive audio from iOS? If so then you should be able to process that audio stream through the SP-404 Fx.
The only way I can think of that you could use iOS FX is if the SP-404 can do loopback. Or send the output to another device via a connected interface. Got a iConnectivty 4c laying around anywhere?
Looking at their web site, which is remarkably devoid of hard information regarding connections etc, the music from their app isn’t licensed for commercial use, which is a bit limiting.
It might be more productive (in the long run) to use the MIDI output to connect to iOS instruments hosted in AUM or a DAW, and then you can use whatever effects you want.
This is making ambient as easy as watering your plants.
I'm using it primarily for live background audio when I host meditation groups.
But yes, also for MIDI to my chosen synths for sure.
The iConnectivity 4C is on my wishlist to be my audio interface. Most likely buying in the new year.
In one way. But there are other ways of using it generatively. As many as there are plants on this earth.
