Auv3 like Volumeshaper in Shaperbox for Sidechain Triggering?

Hello folks new member here and new iPad music maker, coming over from a pc studio using Reason and FL

Starting out with just Logic Pro for now before expanding

On my PC I use the the Volumeshaper in Shaperbox bundle for all my sidechaining needs like Kick to bass, snare to synth etc. Also Duck by Devious Machines is another great option. To me they sound the best for sidechaining

Is there anything like this on the iPad like an Auv3 or something I can insert on a Bass track for example and sidechain/route the kick to it and adjust the shape, mixdown knob etc?

Appreciate any help

Try the flux apps from Caelem Audio.
    Flux mini 2 is free

If you wanna go nuts, grab Flux Pro

  • Bleass Compressor and SideKick, Roughrider3, and 4Pockets Sidechain all have sidechain compression.

Not the same thing, but you can get a lot of mileage out of FAC Envolver.

Send it audio, then use the CC output to duck volume controls, etc. If you've ever used the good ol' Fruity Peak Controller you probably get the idea.

In some ways, this method is a lot more flexible than just side chaining.

  • Fabfilter Pro-G has been by far the best I’ve found for this

Peak controller 😍 with -1 in the formula box to invert if I remember correctly 😄

Yep. I was sjide chaining using that sucker back when I didn't even know the term, back before the turn of the century ... literally, 1999. 😎

Thanks. But how to get the sidechain going? Is there a way to trigger the envelope with a kick from another bus in Logic? In settings I see Audio, Sidechain, but no other option to select an input like a bus

Thanks, how to get Roughrider3 to recognize the sidechain trigger like a kick for example? There is no option to choose a bus other than enabling the sidechain

I’ve never used it for that personally but I can try and check and see. Someone else may be able to better answer you though. If I get time later on I’ll look and report back

  • It's really straightforward, just select the sidechain option in the plugin window, then set the correct options in the plugin to read the sidechain. Here's an example using the stock Logic compressor, but it also works with third-party plugins like the FabFilters:

    Just like @richardyot explained.
You can sidechain to instr also bus.
If you use flux, then set the top left option in the app to “retrigger” so it starts on each kick besides the 4/4.
