This one has drums!

Occasionally I make a track with drums, as opposed to my usual washes of sound. This is one of those.

    Sounds great! What are you using for the piano and drums?

    I use percussion in a lot of tracks but not actual “drums” very often so I share that sentiment.

    Also heads up: the embedded video wasn’t working for me so I had to watch it in YouTube. Think it may just be a site problem though and nothing that’s your fault.

    Two apps provide the drums: the mighty Hammerhead and a sample that I chopped up and sequenced in my beloved Koala.

    The “piano” is actually a pluck patch called ‘Ivalo’ from Twin3.

    (Although I didn’t apply an adjective to T3, I do love it very much.)

    I like the ‘suffocated’ feel of the drums and the rushes of backing strings/chords. It gives the whole thing a nice tenseness which works against the ostensibly chilled feel of the melody. Creative tension! :) It would work great as music for a movie montage of a ninja type sneaking into a heavily guarded compound, bypassing alarm systems, sidestepping patrolling guards, as they make their way to their target…

    And… Twin 3? What is that? It must have passed me by.

    That’s Fab Filters synth. It’s super powerful and sounds excellent. One of the highest quality synths on the App Store I would say.

    As @HotStrange says, Twin3 is a FabFilter product. I don’t remember what I paid for it but whatever it was, it was worth every penny.

    I like the drum sounds in particular, but also the overall feel of unsettling dubbiness.
