I just used AI to master my music…

I thought I’d never do it, but I did. I tried Waves online mastering and I must admit it sounds very good. I used a reference track on some songs and in the end, it sounds actually very good. The price is much cheaper than what I normally would pay for a studio mastering engineer. I feel kinda weird and guilty, but it’s technology I guess.

It would be cool to get some before / after snippets to listen to for a blind comparison.

  • Hey I don’t blame you, if it sounds good then it sounds good, saves you more time for composing and whatnot

  • Heathen!!! 😂

And the dastardly Waves at that! 🤣🤣

Maybe it stripes a hidden frequency in my music and kills the vibe.
I guess this is just the beginning of working with the invisible bot. :)
Apple is going to get crazy with this soon. I read. I think Logic has an AI mastering assistant too.

@Antos3345 You know we’re just playing and that @Tarekith is a professional mastering engineer, don’t you? 🙂

I’m actually interested in your results.

I did a few test tracks last night and today I’ll have to test them in different settings and speaker setups, then I can honestly tell you what I feel. The reference track algorithm is helpful so it can use similar aspects of a previous liked master.

  • I agree AI mastering has potential to sound really great. I’ve used BandLab before to pretty good results. But something about just relinquishing all the power and not having any control over it never sits right with me. In the end though, if it works it works.

Check out BandLab and see how it compares. It’s free.

  • I’ll have to try Bandlab too. I think for some songs it may be ok. For others that need special hands on treatments and care,it needs to go to a real mastering engineer or to your own likings. I think the good old blindfold placebo tests are best to see what one hears and feels.
