What's your favorite mixing compressor?

edited November 2023 in General App Discussion

Haven't seen a recent topic about compressors. I got tb barricade, bark filter, fac Medusa and rr3. Except rr3 none of them are standard compressors and I would like to get one during Black Friday. What is your go to compressor for mixing?

Comments

  • Let's see, there's TB Compressor, RoughRider 3, Fabfilter Pro-C2 (if you're on iPad only), and the compressor in NS2 is high quality as well. If you use Logic Pro, the compressor in there is tough to beat.

  • medusa and barricade have standard compressor on them...

I use reelbus or barricade when I want to glue something

and barkfilter on the master for leveling the different frequencies

As far as I know barricade is limiter for master bus, Medusa kinda saturator ish aggressive compressor. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Pro-C2 for sure

Barricade has a compressor as well.

  • I’m a really big fan of the RRS compressors. And they’re all free to demo so you could see which one suits you the best. Smoov and Schlap from Caelum Audio are 2 more that I use a bit, Richter from Klevgrand. Also Toneboosters standard Compressor is great as well as TB MBC. AU3FX: Push, fAC Maxima, and I’ve never tried it but the DDMF stuff is apparently amazing.

The Toneboosters apps are my go to’s for all of that, though.

Just a heads up if you want any DDMF stuff, it goes on sale tomorrow.

  • Does no one use (or rate) Bleass Compressor?

I have almost all of the Bleass apps except that one and one other lol so I can only comment on the quality of their other effects and if it’s on par with those then I imagine it’s excellent.

    Not my favourite.

MixBox has excellent classic compressors. AU3FX:Push is really versatile with a gate/limiter/clipper and sounds great. Schlap has some nice tones and punch.

I see MagicDeathEye has discount at this moment, the normal one and the stereo one. They are a bit pricey normally.

The stereo one is better for mastering, and the other for instruments, is that right?

You can use both for both.

The standard version is all I have ever needed.

It’s the only ITB comp I use.

Thanx! I think I will get the standard one finally, the price is more friendly now (for me).

    Yeah, me too.

  • Schlap & Smoov by Caelum Audio.

Easy and fast workflow, nice sound.
