Gravitron

King of Digital, Pure Piano, and several assorted bits of percussion and guitar.

When I was younger, I loved carnival rides. I still do, but they don’t like me. This track is about one of my favorites. Unlike other rides that turn you upside down and throw you around, this one simply spins. It starts out slow, but within a few seconds you are literally stuck to the wall. Then the floor drops out from under you and your heart starts beating fast and hard. It’s known by many names, but I think Gravitron is the coolest.

  • This is really cool! Love the percussion parts here.

Also love the Gravitron though I haven’t been inside of one in years.

Me either. They were fun. No seat belts! They are considered dangerous now. I’m so glad I grew up in the 70s. Kids these days don’t know what they are missing. Thanks for listening!

  • awesome opening atmosphere into the explosive perc. very nice track. i just picked up King of Digital as i loved the D1 and was having crashing/reload in AUM issues.

  • Well done! Honestly I could listen to intro looped for 5 minutes.

  • I’m inspired to try something different. I’ll start by opening Cubasis 3 and adding parts until I get something that I believe @Paulieworld might have made. Wish me luck.

  • I hate carnival rides, as a kid we were supposed to enjoy the traveling circus that came once a year but I only enjoyed those cars with big bumpers😂 Loved the song though ..😃

I grew up in the 90s and was glad I was able to experience it also. I didn’t realize they weren’t around anymore. So much fun!

I had the same experience with D1. KoD is probably my new favorite synth. I’m not very good as a sound designer and prefer to work with presets. It will take me a month to listen to all of them! I am glad to hear that the percussion achieved the desired effect. I work with a lot of audio material and gradual tempo changes are difficult. Thanks for listening.

Thank you. I agree, it’s a nice sound. It’s one of the vast number of presets that come built into KoD. I was trying to simulate a 3 minute carnival ride, so I had to cut it short! Have a good one!

I always loved the bumper cars. I just wished they were a little faster!

While I was working on this, I was trying to use a few of your presets in ButterSynth, but I was having problems with the sound breaking up, crackling, etc. Are you aware of any issues in Cubasis 3? It always worked fine in C2. I have had that happen with a few older IAA apps.

I seem to have a love/hate relationship with C3. I like the way it freezes tracks. Much faster than C2. I find the locators to be finicky. Also, as I mentioned above, some older synths and apps have issues. I’m working on something now that is driving me nuts. I created a nice sax solo in Session Band Jazz 4, but had trouble routing it into C3. It either crashed or the sound was terrible. I finally got one good take using AUM, but the first half was full of crackles and noise. For some reason, the second half sounded alright, so I just clipped it and repeated it. Not the ideal solution, but it works, sort of.

Looking forward to hearing what you come up with!

No I wasn't aware of that and I don't have C3 installed (using Logic for now) but I'll pass it on to Arto, the developer.

  • A nice homogenous mix of sounds, constructed in a very pleasing way. A long winded way of saying that I really enjoyed that!

  • Nice track Paul, really enjoyed that one 🙏

  • I remember going on a ride just like that but the floor did not fall away on it. So it must have been a later version when things became more safety orientated.

The track definitely gives a fairground or circus-y vibe. In fact, when that cool percussion comes in, it made me think it would not be out of place as backing music to a Cirque du Soleil performance.

    Very nice! 👍

Sorry it took so long to say thank you. Mom taught me better than that! Thank you.

  • @GeoTony @Spidericemidas I would have liked a gradual tempo increase, but I use a lot of audio and I don’t know how to do that with audio! Cirque du Soleil… Wow… that would be cool. If you know anyone there, please ask them to call me! Hope you’re doing okay. Thank you gentlemen!
