It’s not a conspiracy if they really are out to get you: The Demon Haunted World
Is it safe?
Comments
Deeply disturbing (in a good way, if that is even possible??) Love the dark brooding bass and sense of unease. Nice choice of samples too.
Dub bass!
Very claustrophobic and you can imagine things hiding in the shadows around this.
Just because you’re paranoid, don’t mean they’re not after you.
This is great!
I’m adding it to my Christmas playlist!😀
Could you imagine your life today twenty years ago?
Love it! Definitely feels a bit paranoid with that bass. Awesome stuff.
Thanks all for your listens and comments. Always much appreciated.
@rottencat : that’s some interesting Xmas playlist you are putting together there! Makes a change from all the Ho Ho Ho anyway
@iamspoon - who told you that? Who are you working for?
@AlterEgo_UK : yep, the bass is good old Model 15 sequenced by Atom from some live jamming in KB1 in Scale mode. The other synths are King Of Digital, with the same KB/Atom two step. I made the audio clips from YouTube screen capping into Koala, then manually triggering them there over the backing.
@michael_m : interesting. I can hear how the deepness of the bass has a dubiness to it, but I always associate dub bass with the very particular full on delay to the nth degree wacka wacka of fully stoned dub Reggae.
@LinearLineman : Nope is the answer to that one. I never imagined myself spending so much of my rapidly diminishing time making my noises, that’s for sure! Carl Sagan, the far sighted genius behind the audio quotes here, read by a newsreader from his final book The Demon Haunted World, was, as it turned out, rather more spot on in his estimation of the social media/populist politician/fake news dumbed down hellscape we now find ourselves in, thirty or so years on since he wrote those words. For sure, I lack his perspicacity and prescience. But: I feel you have a specific point in mind?
@HotStrange : thank you! I’ve always liked this kind of found audio collage mashup, ever since listening to the likes of Cabaret Voltaire back in the day, using actual tape. Trouble is, with copyright strike algorithms everywhere, there’s almost no point in making this kind of stuff these days, and it means I can’t include such tracks on any albums I might want to distribute to the streaming platforms, or even enable it for free downloads, so as much as I enjoy them, and would probably make a lot more of them, combining my two great enthusiasms of film and audio… there’s no point
Nice work @Svetlovska but don’t stare at that abyss too hard.
Thank you, But @knewspeak, surely you realise:
Besides, I never go anywhere without my blade of choice:
"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." - Hanlon’s Razor.
@Svetlovska i share your pain. I love sound collage/plunderphonics/musique concrete, but you really have to be careful which is a shame.
I love me some Cabaret Voltaire. Those first few albums are great. Them and Throbbing Gristle have been pretty instrumental for me.
Maybe it was curiosity that killed Schrödinger’s cat, after all.
Cabaret Voltaire, Locarno, Sheffield circa ‘80s time in flight.
You ever get to catch them live?
Yes, it was a revolutionary time in Sheffield in those days, in many ways. Only ghosts remain nowadays.
Wow I’m jealous! I would’ve loved to have seen them or TG live back in the day.
Sometimes myself and friends get together to recollect, we have a tendency to piece together the thread of factuality, a composite of collective memories, although one who remains nameless has become the very personage he absolutely despised back then, so much so, he denies all he was and he really was the best/worst of us all.
Nothing to be jealous about, live, love and be loved, when in the thick of it enjoy the ride.
Great track ms Svetlovska!
That’s all we can do. Try our best to enjoy the ride
Well, so far it’s just your track
and this:
How come I never heard this classic before?
Well, I thought I was going to need therapy after this track - you have a way of taking a feeling of dread and hopelessness and turning it up to 11, and then some more. Excellent, if terrifying.
Thankfully @rottencat ‘s donkey song acts a strong antidote!
