Acoustic Guitar Strumming App
Recommendations on a app that simulates acoustic guitar strums?
- Lets you enter the chords of the song - in each bar; supports copy /paste
- Lets you pick the strumming pattern
- Offers a 'humanize' option to slightly vary the pattern
Thanks!!

StrummerFX?
+1.
StrummerFX has definitely become my “go to” for this need, but it has its quirks and limitations. One of the more urgh-inducing is that if you want to trigger key changes (sending Midi to its pads) with an external sequencer (Atom, for example), you need to hit the trigger about a 16th before the beat on which the change should occur.
But you do get used to this and other oddments, and it can be quite useful.
Thank you!!
my favorite guitar strummer app is Guitarism - but it's very old & no auv3 so doesn't get used much - but it's great!

in addition to Strummer FX, the Tonality app has a guitar strum feature that is decent.
GeoShred now has strumming
@GeoTony WOW!!! GeoShred is rather pricey. THEN you have to buy more stuff, to get more sounds. Is it really that good?
If you’re not opposed to strumming manually, get Yonac’s Steel Guitar Pro. It’s an excellent ‘guitar simulator’.
I would say yes but it is the only control surface I use.
Looking at Pats post here https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/comment/1272465/#Comment_1272465
it looks like GeoShred Play will be free later today so you can always give it a go with no risk and then upgrade if you need to.
It comes with hundreds of presets and you only need to buy more if you want specific , largely non guitar based sounds.
Here is a quick video of setting up strumming and there are more on the Moforte YouTube channel.
It’s a good start for GeoShred to add strumming, but it needs to have palm muting and other techniques added. Would also like to be able to add the variable of guitar “squeaks” as chords are changed. This dramatically increases realism.
@NeuM , palm muting is available. Pat shows it in the first minute or so of this video. I agree about the squeaks 🐭
I see. Position on the fretboard changes the palm muting. I think it needs to be even more distinctive. Needs to sound like muted plucking, not just a shortening of the note duration. It’s tough to deliver a guitar experience on iPad that is remotely close to the real thing. Really tough. If it was easy, they’d all be doing it. So far Steel Guitar Pro and the defunct app Pearl Guitar have delivered (in my opinion) the most realistic versions to date. The good news is there’s room for improvement for all implementations.
GeoShredControl is free, and may do what you need. It is the MPE control surface with no instruments. The Pro version enables the built-in instruments.
