Soundfont player(s)

Hi,
Since apps are developed frequently and maybe I missed something, I'd like a recommendation for a soundfont player. I am aware of bismark - bs-16 and SoundFont Pro but none of them has a critical feature: Disk-Streaming. I tried some conversion to BeatMaker2 format:

but too much trouble. I need your advice!

  • Not sure about disk streaming, but Caustic handels sf and alot more.

  • Soundfont Pro does not have disk streaming

NTBYF Synth can do soundfont files, too. Not sure disk about streaming, but the description does say this:

The app also has an integrated Apollo MIDI over Bluetooth "A" endpoint, letting you send MIDI wirelessly between a pair of iOS devices, or between iOS and a Mac. This will require the Apollo app running on the other device -- the Mac version of Apollo is free, so it's easy to try out. Once you've experienced the low latency of MIDI over Bluetooth, you'll never want to use WiFi MIDI again.

So it seems like as long as you have some midi player running on another device that can do disk streaming, you should be able to play it on this app.

  • Caustic seems good deal ,I just tried the PC version which unfortunately loads samples in RAM..well it's not a problem on PC ,but I want to make the ipad act as a sound module and only 1 Giga memory seems impossible to load quality converted soundfonts from vst's...

  • Didn't know about NTBYF Synth either. Thanks Coloobar

If you're sampling VST's, how about converting them to BM2 or Thumbjam instruments instead, and then streaming the midi from a midi player into BM2/TJ? It's pretty easy to set up your own instruments made from WAV files in either app.

  • If you mean convert them to BM2 via the Chainer ,it doesn't support velocity layer, which is important (for me). I prefer buying Extreme Sample Converter (there is a demo download)...
