I loved it and if anyone knows what is the reason behind it, let us know! Cheers

  • This usually means that the dev is no longer registered with Apple, or that the app cannot be run on current iOS and hardware.

  • Ah bummer. I have all the devs apps except the synth one. I still use them occasionally, pretty good stuff.

  • I have it, it’s not bad.

  • I think this happened previously but after a short while the dev remembered to renew his subs…

  • I always wonder why don't they open source these abandoned products

That can be a lot of work. The project may already include modules with conflicting licenses. You can't just throw it out and say "there it is". Also, the code may be at a point where a major rewrite is required. So who would take that on? Besides, "they" in many cases is a single individual who has truly moved on, so there's no motivation to do anythng more with the code.

All of these, and the code may also contain libraries/proprietary code which the author simply doesn't want to give away because they may be reused in other (non-audio) apps in the future.

No, I payed for it, not much, I think it was around 3 euro or so. And indeed, it was removed from the App Store before.

Two are in the same ballpark.
Mantis by AudioThing, way more advanced, it has a synced delay or unsynced, and you can select different patterns with the buttons just as with the Duplicat https://apps.apple.com/nl/app/mantis-bbd-echo/id1673531514
Another I can recommend is GSI Echo B2 (on sale right now), it gives that vintage character, has one selector knob with different patterns, can be slowed down or speeded up, no sync https://apps.apple.com/nl/app/echo-b2/id1640987290

They are both very vintage sounding for sure, imo the most realistic vintage choice you can make on iOS right now. A huge step up from the Duplicat as well. I like them both very much, Mantis can do more than the GSI Echo B2, but the B2 is based on the Binson delay (which has that spinning magnetic disk on top) and it has a sound color and character that is well worth it. If you want to have a synced option then Mantis, the Echo B2 is simply like owning the hardware unit and is ‘as is’ with some additional options to alter the playheads. Both can add unit noise to make it even more real. Buy both, they are in sale, and be happy.

I’d throw in Ratshack from Audio Damage as well. It may be on sale still too.

  • Yeah I think it’s been gone for a bit. I’ve been meaning to load it from imazing to see if it’ll still work that way but haven’t gotten around to it yet
