I love Gadget. It's so good to have free time to be tinkering in there again. It just totally clicks with me.
Thanks for dropping by, mate. You look after yourself as well, please. 👊😃

Good lord, all the best to you Spider.

    Thank you very much! 😃

  • You make Gadget sound like the only app you really need to make tracks.
How many of the Gadgets do you own and can you mention your top 2-3?

Sorry to hear about your kidney but it seems like you’ve made peace with it.

Kidney failure has suddenly afforded me more spare time again! 😅

Here’s a track straight outta Gadget. Mixed but not mastered, AND the first under 5 minutes! 😲😂

    Yess! 👏👏👏

  • Bloody hell Spider, you don't believe in doing things by halves do you? 😃

Lovely track. Take care of yourself mate.

I own all the Gadgets except for Ebina and Otorii.
I have a top 4 which always make an appearance in my Gadget tracks. Recife, Chiangmai, Montreal and Bilbao for importing stuff I've prepared/recorded in other apps. Vancouver is also brilliantly useful to me.

Bilbao really opens up Gadget beyond its internal sounds. As does Zurich and Vancouver. Gadget is not a closed box to me.

Ohh that's great! The Orb style is what I was going for. Thank you! 😄👍

Huge life changes for sure! But I'm meeting them head on and getting them sorted and under control. Keeping a positive outlook.

Ya gotta put Gadget on your phone! Lol. IMO, it’s one of the best iPhone apps. You’d think it wouldn’t be because of how powerful it is but I find it really easy to work with. It’s one of the few apps I actually occasionally use on iPhone.

  • Lovely track. Definitely an Orb vibe, plus a hint of Kraftwerk.

Hope all goes well health wise (and generally!) from now on.

They're still great! Especially Bilbao and Stockholm for me, and the internal sounds are not too bad with some tweaking and layering 😊

For me it's just a great environment to work in and makes total sense to me. It's so easy to use that it does encourage experimentation and extra effort for the little details.

  • I love your positivity, I often have a hard time with that, getting negative about things that don’t really matter relatively.

I went through a number of kidney infections as a child due to a complicated explanation no one wants. There was one point where my fever was off the thermometer. It was scary but fortunately I was a kid and didn’t understand the severity of it all.

Now I’m 42 and still kicking. Well, I’m too out of shape to kick. I hope that the worst is behind you, looking forward to hearing some of your music!

Sorry for your health troubles! Praying for you. Can't imagine how hard that sudden change must be.
That track is really nice! Can't believe that is Gadget only :open_mouth:
I have Gadget and a lot of the in app purchases, but was lured away by AUs and getting outside the "walled garden". I've always found Gadget so easy to work in, and given your use of Bilbao, Zurich and Vancouver with outside sounds, I'll be going back to Gadget to play around more!

Yeah I love Bilbao, especially for enhancing my beats in Recife with some imported percussion and drum loops from elsewhere. Even if the loop you want is longer than the 6-7 seconds that Bilbao offers, you can still get that whole loop into Bilbao. Just send the loop to audioshare first and use the grid to chop it into smaller even pieces. Audioshare shows you the time length so you can ensure it doesn't exceed 6-7 seconds. Then import those pieces into Gadget for assigning across a number of trigger pads in Bilbao. By playing the pads in sequence, you reconstruct the original loop. And if you set all the pieces in the same choke group, you can go nuts and play them in any order for huge variation and syncopation of the original loop. Each one will cut off the other if triggered during the playback of the other, creating some really interesting rhythm variations. That's what I did in the middle of the "Dreams" track.

Vancouver is really good for atomsphere's and pads. Longer sample time. Two layers. Just brilliant.

Thanks for your prayers. Very thoughtful. 🙏
Big changes but we've adjusted and got it under control...for now! 😅

Oof, that sounds pretty harsh and traumatising. Glad you got through it ok. Yeah, experience puts things into perspective and you eventually realise nothing is really worth worrying or stressing about too much in the grand scheme of things.

  • I’ve had a listen and it’s thoroughly enjoyable.

    Thanks for the share.

Hey! Thanks for the listen! 🙏

  • @NeuM Thank you for the support. It's always appreciated.

I'm currently doing very well. A good set of blood test results from Saturday shows I have nailed this renal diet plan since being discharged from hospital. Sodium, Potassium and Phosphorous are my biggest enemies nowadays.

  • Another great track @Spidericemidas - it's good that you have the ability to make music to help you pass the time and help you maintain a positive mindset. Sending more (((POSITIVE VIBES))) your way...

  • @AlterEgo_UK thanks, Colin. Positive vibes always welcomed.
Since I'm not working or having to think about work, there's so much room in my head and time on my hands again for imagination and creativity to surface and breathe!
Making music is definitely therapeutic and good for the mind and soul. I think any type of creative outlet is good in that way.

  • I’m not sure which is the most impressive, your music or your take on what has happened to you. Both are to be applauded 🙏
Good luck with the new diet… stay off the bananas 🍌

  • @GeoTony ahh thanks for the kind words and support. Always appreciated.

New diet is rocking! Tonight I made Cod with peas and brocolli and a swede & carrot mash with mozarella. I've also become an expert in making omelettes with various kidney-friendly fillings. 😅

Unfortunately I can never return to monkey now without the bananas 😔🙊

Sorry to hear about your illness. It certainly hasn’t affected your creativity. Great track. Catchy as hell. My wife just asked me what I was listening to. I must have been groovin’ with my headphones on.

Thanks for listening and your kind words. Yeah, I'm on major sick leave at the moment after being discharged from 2 weeks in hospital. But I'm going to give up work. I have 4 hour dialysis sessions 3 times a week now. Impossible to accomodate that and my full time job. I'd hardly ever be there to get anything done. Not suitable for a Quality Manager of a UKAS accredited microbiology laboratory anymore.

Dialysis will be for life or until I get a successful transplant. Not a problem though. I've adjusted and changed everything instantly to manage this situation and there are a surprising amount of positives to discover. More positives than negatives as I see it. Well I suppose that depends on your attitude and nature. I am always a glass half full person, and humbled enough not to take myself and life too seriously. Without work, I have a lot more free time now. So I'm back on the iPad to get some music made! Work had gotten so crazy I had no free time before this.

Currently I feel better and brighter than I've felt all year. The only difference is I now have 2 connection points and tubes surgically implanted and hanging out of my chest for connection to the dialysis machines 😅

I had a similar experience. My little sister was having trouble peeing. Mom took her for tests, and the original diagnosis was not good. We thought she only had one kidney, and it was failing. As it turned out, she had one good one and one covered with cysts. I remember all of us kneeling around the bed and praying. Thank God everything worked out. She’s doing fine these days and happily married to a great guy.

I would offer you one of mine, but I have abused them. I hate to admit it, but I’m doing that right now.

Hang tough, bro. For what it’s worth, we will say a few for you tonight.

    😌🙏

So kind of you, thank you!

Yes, there were a lot of prayers being said for me among the family and church while I was in hospital.

The truth is, on first admission to hospital, I was in a very bad way. I should really be dead. When the hospital found the issue, they called the wife at 2am and told her to come straight to the hospital to be with me. She doesn't drive so she wasn't sure if she could make it. So she asked them if I would "still be with us" in the morning. They said "no guarantees". Amazingly she got a lift over at 2am from the church minister and his daughter! It shook her up a lot but strangely I have to say honestly I was not scared for my life at all.

I was on 3 canulars receiving blood and saline for a night and day in that hospital. I was then transferred to another hospital for the connection point surgery and commenced dialysis. The kidney registrar said my blood results on admission had broken their hospital records. They don't know how I was still alive and conscious. Readings off the scale for some things. Other things 2,000x what they should be. I got a copy of those and subsequent blood results. The first couple of results are truely unbelievable. Worthy of being framed and hung on the wall. Lol.

Most things are much more within normal expected ranges now after about 3 weeks of dialysis so far and a brand new kidney-friendly diet!

Wow, your poor Sister. I'm glad she was ok and things worked out well for her in the end. 👍

All my love a well (as can be) wishes to you mate!

  • @Spidericemidas motto:

When life takes your kidney, make music and presets.

(I should learn to be so positive)

  • @audiblevideo Haha thanks, mate. Good motto. 😁👍

  • Well done, compliments!
