I bought a new (but old) guitar (super cheap, super nice)
Hidden gem for sure.
I bought this today. In USD it's probably something like $200
But it's a Godin so you know it's a super nice guitar. It's a 2002 model (Godin SDxt). xt for tremolo. The model is not made anymore but you will find a lot of these on the used market.
I owned at least 30 guitars from $100 to $3000 and it's the most fun to play guitar I owned. The neck is maple with a fretboard in Birdseye maple (this is why the fretboard looks old, but in reality, it's like new).
The pick up are good, not outstanding, but good. The scale is like a Gibson (shorter I think so the strings have less tension).
I'm sure you will see a couple of theses on the use market. Sometimes they are overpriced, but sometimes they are almost free ($125 or $150). I think the price was $700 in 2002 ($1200 adjusted to 2023).
If the condition is great, go for it. Godin never do anything cheap. The frets are great, the attention to the details is great.

Looks very nice!
Godins are very nice guitars. Does this one have a piezo pickup in the body to emulate an acoustic?
No. If you want a piezo, you need a Godin Solidiac or XTSA. The XTSA (with the SA for, Synth Action) also have a 13 pin midi for Roland Synth pedal board.
Nice find - birdseye maple is so pretty.
I like the pickup options. Looks nice too.
Lovely piece, I instantly did a U.K. eBay search and the prices are defo a bit scalpy here, nice to know another quality brand though…
Lovely!
I want this one… Danelectro convertible. Alan Sparhawk from Low plays it. So unique, very special it’s a hollow body and it sounds halfway beteeen acoustic and electric.
Sweet Godin. Every guitarist should have at least 1 guitar with a maple fretboard. It snaps!
Godin is a quality brand, great score for 200 bucks
Hmm.
Satin neck, super smooth, frets job is super nice. Sometimes cheap guitar have unfinish neck, sharpy frets and no adjustement at all. The string are super low here without buzzing. The best I think is local ads. Almost everything is overprice on Ebay (to my experience). Someting like marketplace Facebook or Kijiji or local ads..Good luck
Close up on the wood of the fretboard.
Gorgeous. I see some birdseye too.
Other old Godin that you can find for around 200$ is the Godin Freeway Classic.
If you know a great guitar at small price, don't hesitate to share it.
I know that Yamaha Pacifica are great! Small price, great value.
Old Ibanez are also a great value.
I saw a guitar made in Japan recently. Aria. Is it a good guitar? The asking price was 300 canadians dollars. It was an electric one.
That’s a steal. French guitars are really good (Vigier are as good as it gets for example). Congrats and enjoy it (maybe swap pickups ?)
Oh that’s awesome man. I have a soft spot for those Godin guitars.
I remember seeing a vintage Airline for super cheap a little while back but didn’t have the space for it. Which I would just got it anyway.
What is a vintage Airline?
Vigier are indeed excellent but pricey as they should.
The most stunning guitar that ever crossed my path is a Walden D351SR, once their $150 entry model, sapele-mahogany plywood in burgundy red... wtf.
It‘s easier to play than my Mexico Tele and has better tuners than my Martin OMCX.
Took it off the shelf and within minutes it was clear that this guitar was one very happy accident.
String articulation from top to bottom and across the fretboard was totally even, and it strongly reminded at an archtop model. Added a simple soundhole electric pickup and d‘Addario ECG strings (flatwound)... flawless electric performance.
If played acoustically these strings have a very special bell-like character on mahogany, while they don‘t work on regular spruce tops at all.
It‘s impossible to get this sound from the Martin, so both guitars complement each other perfectly. I started with 12 gauge strings, but 11 seems the perfect fit (less boomy).
It was an old guitar made of plastic and gave it a really unique tone. Check out La Lom or Jack White. They both use them to great effect. I think they make new ones still as well.
that looks like a beautiful guitar. I wish you much fun with it.
BTW, if you never watched his channel, it's super entertaining and you will learn a lot about Gibson guitars. He seems to buy and sell guitars (mainly Gibson) for a living on Reverb.
