Thank you Arto, the update I have been craving for, ButterSynth is back to being a super synth, all my midi mappings have returned and the “save preset” box can now be disabled 👌 absolutely brilliant 🎊
Hi there Arto,
I'm interested in Buttersynth and I've been searching for it in my appstore but unable to find it. When I search for it, it give me a notification that it's not available in my region. I'm registered with the appstore in Asia. Would it be possible to all purchase from this region?
There is a mystery going on with this app right now. Apparently it is gone from the store. If you purchased it before the app disappearance you might be able to download it, but if you never did then you might as well consider it unavailable.
Some peeps here have tried reaching out to the developer but without any success.
Consensus on the forum is that it is a little strange given the amount of work and effort developer put in this, so we all hope he is doing well and we hear from him soon.
Oh, that's unexpected! Alright, I hope that the developer is fine and be back on track again and offer it it again in the Appstore!
So much I hear that it's a great app!
Considering the weirdness with Kirnu, I’m not too confident.
He was badly mauled on this site, maybe that’s why
i've emailed the support address, no reply there either
The last time I had a jam with Buttersynth, I didn’t have any crashes, it seemed a lot better than the time before and is a really comprehensive and deep synth with a good overall tone. I hope it comes back so others get the chance to appreciate all the hard work that went into it
agreed, i had a lot of stability issues at first but BS grew to be a very reliable tool that I use frequently. my current set-up has it sitting in a complicated AUM project housed in a AudioBus patch with a lot of internal routing and being fed MIDI from hardware, have used BS reliably in this set-up for dozens of 4-hour+ sessions, the only crashes were my own fault (sending it program changes from two sources simultaneously) - i think that speaks to its stability.
this is the address i found if anyone else wants to give it a try:

It never worked in GarageBand for me , with ghost notes and some notes being silent during playback. I had reached out to the dev and never got a response so I ended up getting a refund . Maybe it worked better for iPad but as I don’t have one I’ll never know . > @scrape said:
I didn’t notice anything like that personally, as it seemed more like anyone who criticized BS was criticized themselves , and in one case was blamed on user error. In all honesty though I don’t post here as much due to increasing amount of negativity so I likely missed those attack posts
The negativity keeps me away too but there’s nowhere else to celebrate the great work that’s happening with iOS. > @Fear2Stop said:
Just noticed that Butter is back online to download and buy. I tired it as standalone and it works fine, crashing once when I change presets to fast. I got it at a pretty low price as well. Hope that the dev have time to update the app and listen in on users comments!
How fast, on what device? I'm pressing the note key and the next patch at 180 bpm, but nothing happens, not even a hiccup. It works like a tiger. For that kind of synth, this is incredible. (iPad Pro, M2)
I have the same issue on my admittedly way old iPad Air 3 but even my iPhone 14 Pro crashes on this settings change. Seems like having a top of the line iPad is the best option to have it run.
Yeah, BS is a very CPU-demanding app, it’s probably the main reason for the different efficiency on different devices.
I also have a clean, art&music-dedicated iPad, all notifications are turned off, and sensory access is meticulously controlled. No TestFlight. No third-party Google, Amazon, Meta, etc. apps are installed. The dirtiest app I have installed is GeoShred, other than those from Apple. 🤦♂️
I only have an Ipad from 2018, I think it's ipad 6. Running it in AUM does take up more processing power, so I run it in standalone. I basically use the ipad for the great and variety of synth choices and having the MPC one really makes it a nice sequencer, sampler and recorder not to forget the autosampler, which I can make a sampler instruments from the ipad. This works well for me, not having a super high end ipad. Now I hope that with new MPC 3, I would that it will be possible to stream more tracks from disk along with more power editing features!
