Luminescence At Dawn
This is a repost of my 9th album published December 2020, a year after I returned from Istanbul.
It’s part of my internal review of my sixty some albums since April 2018. I’ve reworked about twenty tracks from the previous 28, but when I listened to this album I realized it was a turning point in my iOS journey.
I had actually figured the whole process out to a certain degree. Use of synths and better production values as well as properly saving projects and other household details re being a proper producer. Plus, the whole less is more concept penetrated at last and the thrill of a zillion synth sounds had begun to take its proper place in my scheme of things. I had finally thrown the overboard… overboard.
The piano figures in a lot but not enough to make it a piano album. It was pre SWAM, so no reliance on acoustic horns. Not jazz but jazz influenced but certainly improvised, as always.
Frankly, I don’t think I could make something like this again. I lack the patience these days. But, 3 1/2 yrs ago I was a different man, and certainly more in the thrall of what iOS could do. I might even call this a bit ambient. I leave that to @jwmmakerofmusic to opine about if he has the inclination.
A shout out to @rs2000 for the cool and calm album design. This was the last he had the generosity to do for me. The next album, my 20th was “Pictures At A Planetarium. That album was the beginning of a new “theme based” phase of creation and I began putting together my own covers, but @rs2000 ’s support is always with me.
So, here is Luminescence At Dawn (again). Definitely one of my top five albums. I hope you’ll agree.
Thanks for the continued support from ABF. Couldn’t have done it without you and I’m sure many other creators here would agree.

Wow. I’ve only heard the first track and I’m hooked! Beautiful. Will be enjoying this album today.
Thanks @Dav. I look forward to hearing what you think.
Luminescence was just sublime. One of your best I thought.
Then Impact changed direction completely , really enjoyed the instrumentation (bass clarinet?)
Then Vangelis changed direction etc etc and was just lovely.
Each subsequent track brought something new, really enjoyed Reflection and then finishing, appropriately with Peace at Last.
Just a great uplifting album 🙏
lol, @GeoTony i wondered if you would get around to this one. I’m glad you liked it. I like the flute stuff in it, too. Thanks and HH, bro.
I was waiting to hear the whole thing but a line by line critique isn’t needed. This is a spectacular album, and you’re a truly gifted musician. To know this was done on an iPad, well it shows the critics this is studio level.
Clearly Taqsim square caught my attention for the title obviously. But your album is like a Native American sound to me when not in jazz mode. It reminds me of the world albums I used to buy from the virgin megastore.
The jazziness in the river meander was my favorite probably. I felt like a Guaraldi type of vibe.
You can really strip down the nonessentials and arrange things so well.
You and JWM are like my favorite EP , this years awards go to you two guys for best creations and best albums!
Thank you very much @dreamcartel for taking the time to listen. I don’t expect too many to have time/interest to take it all in but having one or two makes it feel worthwhile. This is actually an album from 2029. I’m slowly revisiting all 70 albums and this one stood out beyond remixing a few tracks as I go along.
Unchained Malady will appear on my 71st. Almost done now.
Blimey Mike, as well as the talents that we knew about I didn’t know you’d mastered time travel as well ⏱️
The new Dr Who better watch out 😊
@GeoTony i have time travelled for 3/4 of a century so far. And so far, so good.
