Secta by K Devices (Released)

Secta is an audio effect that dynamically splits incoming audio in two sections and processes each with an exclusive kit of effects, sculpting silence, shaping accents and amplifying hidden details, guiding each layer into a parallel sonic dimension. A sound-designer (unforeseen) dream.

  • Wow. Will give it a try

  • K Devices is one of the handful of devs I’ll pretty much instantly buy from. Always fairly cheap and offer a lot for the price. Looks cool!

IIRC, they released a different plugin on desktop a few weeks back that’s also supposed to be coming to iOS. Any word on that I wonder?

  • I'll do one for the iOS version, here's the one I made for the desktop version

Yes. TTAP and WOV are favorites. Looking forward to messing with Secta.

  • Ooh, is this Magma's brother? I love Magma and this one looks also super interesting.

  • I haven’t missed one of their plugins since the OG Shaper. This one’s very cool.

  • is there still no state saving in aum and other hosts or in app preset saving?

  • Butterfrog:
only in your host, not in the plug unfortunately...

  • Captioned video explaining pretty much everything in 3 mins:

The pinned comment is really worth a read. Has giveaway info (there are also giveaways on Insta and Twitter), as well as a detailed write-up with tips and a review, stuff that is not covered in the video. I wasn’t sure about this plugin when I first tried it but I quickly grew to like it, really quite interesting, easy to grasp too (as long as you basically ignore the very vague main description in the app’s own blurb). Great for texture, and I love things like the pitch drift delay, the smearing, the random prolonged envelopes function, and so on.

    Saves state fine 👍

  • This reminds me of Fairfield Circuitry’s Shallow Water

Well i’ll be damned. Even lfoh seems to properly save states now. Was it all in my imagination?

Haha, maybe! Don't think I remember a state saving problem with their stuff before.

Lol yeah I read the blurb on the App Store and got a bit confused then I started messing with the app and was thinking “why did they try to make this seem way harder than it is” 😂

  • Only had a brief play through so far but I’m digging it. K-Devices are one of my favorite devs. Every app has great sonic and experimental possibilities and this one seems very much the same.

Yeah lol, these kind of overblown and vague app descriptions are a pet peeve of mine, tbh

Yep, I’ve enjoyed all their apps so far, even if I’ve not used them a whole lot in finished pieces, and when I saw the price of this I just bought it. I had a short play yesterday and this one is the same, does something unlike anything else.

@Gavinski ’s video is a great intro - I’ll check the comment tips in a bit.

@sevenape I’m going to have to check a Shallow Water demo now - watched one a while back, but the comparison sounds interesting.
