Media Assistant and Onemotion music web apps

There are a couple of very nice, free, web based music apps that I've been using for a few years from developer Tomas Eriksson (onemotion.com). You can actually use a MIDI controller with them if you use a supported browser (such as Chrome) on a PC. It's pretty convenient because you can create, save, export your own projects and then access them on any browser.

Using the Media Assistant app on iOS enables them to be used in AUM where audio can be recorded live and effects added. There are some limitations using it this way, one of them being that Media Assistant must be in the foreground in AUM to play, and there's no way to sync the transport with the web app, but I still find it fun to experiment with.

Here's a short video of one of them in action:

There are two web based apps:

Chord Player
https://www.onemotion.com/chord-player/

Drum Machine
https://www.onemotion.com/drum-machine/

They are both quite sophisticated and offer a lot of features and control, and totally free, and the developer has improved them quite a bit over the last couple years. There's also a Facebook group out there for it too. I'm not going to go into the details on how they work here, but feel free to hit me up if you have questions, and I'll try to answer.

  • I found out about those apps around a year or so ago and I fully agree, they’re fantastic.

Being able to sync transport and send midi out would be amazing but I believe that’s strictly an iOS limitation and not the app itself. Even then, just sampling it into koala or something is a lot of fun.

@EdZAB Thank you for extending my knowledge. I didn't know that Auv3 can host web browser. I need to take a closer look at the features of MA.
EDIT: Wow, these 2 web apps are great!

The Media Assistant web browser can show only one page at a time, right?
I've just found that Chord Player and Drum machine can be synchronized if there are running in 2 browser's tabs. It works flawlessly with Firefox on Windows but there are time lags with Firefox or Safari on iOS.
EDIT: Got it. Chord and Drum app works synchronized when I use 2 instances of Media Assistant on 2 tracks. They are not synchronized with the AU host clock, I guess this can't be solved. The second shortcoming is that the position and content of both MA windows are not saved with the Loopy Pro project.

Interesting! You took it further than I have with two instances. Yes - they will sync on a PC as you stated, but I didn't know they could sync at all within iOS, so definitely will check that out. There are indeed a lot of limitations because the web apps are not AU aware inside of MA, but I still like the flexibility of seeing what is happening and being able to make changes on the fly, vs. working with exported audio. Nice one!

Good looking out! Gotta remember to try this later.

  • Is it still working ? I cannot find the AU browser anymore in AUM and the IAA is not working well (no sound)

The last update renamed it. I had that issue as well. It’s just MA Browser now. Try searching that inside AUM.

  • After the latest update you can drag and drop multiple files direct from the Audio Tagger AU Instrument straight into Logic Pro for iPad. Saves doing split screen method.
