How to use Pteq 8 as audio effect?
I was looking at this interesting video, which shows Pteq being used as an effect to add piano resonance to some other app's audio. The creator notes in the comments that he hasn't been able to do this in AUM on iOS, since Pteq loads only as audio AUv3, not an effect.
I'm curious if there is some what to do this on iOS, whether in AUM or not. I don't have Audiobus and don't know quite how it works, wonder whether it would be possible to load Pteq in Audiobus audio slot and then route audio from AUM to it so Pteq could add the resonance. . .

Audiobus is not much different from AUM; it can load AUv3s, and connect to IAAs. If Pianoteq is visible as an IAA in an audio effect slot (check the list in AUM), then this might work. If it is available as IAA, it might help to load it first, before attempting to connect.
Just checked, the iaa is not visible in an FX slot.
Hes, I've often thought Pianoteq auv3 would be useful as an fx, even just for the standard fx, reverbs etc, which are very good quality. Worth an email maybe
Yes, maybe. They do seem committed to feature parity b/w desktop and ios versions, and accepting audio input is one of the abilities on desktop. I wonder if the ios version already has most of the code for it, just needs to be enabled as an AUv3 effect.

I think I’ll do the same because that would be a sweet feature. Some of the reverb algorithms in P8 are just fantastic.
They are! I sometimes use pianoteq with external reverbs but almost never find ones that fit quite as well as the internal pianoteq reverbs. It really would be extemely useful in many different ways if you could use it as an fx.
Yeah you can tell they really put a lot work into making the effects equal to the synth engine and not just an afterthought. The delay, tremolo, and app sim get a lot of use from me too. Hopefully they’ll consider adding that.
They really have and it's one of the reasons, among many, that I fricking adore pianoteq! So yeah, although I had never even considered the possibility of wild stuff like resonating other sound sources, I would just be happy to be able to take a preset I like in pianoteq, turn off the reverb while I feed it into another fx app, and then use just the reverb from an fx version of pianoteq at the end of the chain. That alone would make me very happy. I feel that these guys are really expert at what they do, the reverbs have been so well matched to each preset.
I emailed Modartt about this when it first came out, unfortunately it’s not possible at the moment and if I remember right, he wasn’t sure if it’s something he could add.
Definitely worth emailing him to show interest though, it’s a super interesting part of pianoteq and I’d love to be able to experiment with it on the iPad too.
Ah damn okay. At least it’s being considered though! Modartt has done well with iOS so far.
