Creating random patterns with random kits!

Beats Gone Mad - Creating Random Patterns with Random Kits.

Atlas 2 sample manager (desktop - macOS and Win) from Algonaut has a kit creator and a step sequencer that can create both random kits and patterns respectively. These 2 features can give fun and surprising results, whether used one at a time or both together.

A few examples are shown in this video. The samples are a selection from my 19 first Patreon reward packs.

I know there are sequencers on iOS that can randomize patterns, Octachron and Cykle for instance. But are there any sampler/drum machine that can create random kits from a folder full of samples?

That’s pretty cool! Maybe not exactly what you’re looking for but Beatly Pro has sample import. So you can import samples and then randomly generate a pattern.

  • Hi HotStrange!

Thanks for the suggestion, I never tried Beatly, will look at it.

Are there any generator apps that do metal? Or any iOS apps that do metal drums auv3?

Oh and Cool video. (Beats gone mad indeed, and does it use like iOS file system or you import your samples to the directory fo the app)?

Sugarbytes' Drum Computer can create random kits.

    Yes, Drambo can.
Copy or upload the sample folder to a Drambo sample folder, add the Sampler module, open its mapping editor and choose "Create zones from folder" from the burger menu.
If you have the drum samples separated by drum instrument then I'd keep them in separate folders and add a Sampler per instrument. That won't use much CPU, no worries.

Glad you like the video! And I forgot to mention that Atlas 2 is a desktop app (just edited the first post to correct this). It does use the file system and I am wondering if something similar exists on iOS.

Never used this app and I know it's powerful. I just browsed through the manual and the kits random button seems to randomize the synth engine of a single channel. Can it load a random sample? Or better yet, load a random sample in each channel with a single RND button?

Your post came in while I was typing my previous reply.
Very interesting. I have had Drambo for a while and I have not really used it yet. Looks like I should, could be a New Year resolution for 2024!
    :D

You can import samples via drag and drop. It has a lot of randomization options.

Both are great apps and interesting suggestions. And thanks @Dham for sharing this informative video.
