I need a new audio interface and looking for advice...

I've watched a ton of videos and narrowed it down to one of these and would love some feedback. Does any stand out being clearly better quality? I would like for it to have dc coupled outputs, so at least 4 outputs.

I had the volt but sold it when I moved. It’s also made with the iPad in mind and I really did enjoy it while I had it. I’m planning on getting a new interface soon but I’m looking more closely at the Arturia now as you get 4 inputs for less than the price of the 2 in Volt.
The vintage mode is cool and does sound good but I can also get very close with plugins.

I've reworked my finals list based on realizing that, for not much more (and in the case of the Presonus, for less) I can get a DC coupled interface instead and that way I can send CV to my eurorack styled hardware! New list:

Go to the fundamentals that are for what use now and in 2 years time you want it ?
Do you need really one ? If yes is it for recording a voice and a guitar ? You will need perhaps to record a small band sometime. Is it just because you need only to plug some external synths or other gears to it.
Except if you are near pro work all brands are quite equal.
Personally I don’t need for what I do any audio interface other neeed really to really on some and by experience choose one that can follow what you could need in 2 years time so that mean more input that first price with only 2 inputs.
Don’t follow what influencers tell you on YouTube think what you need now and in the future rather than to buy a good brand that you will need to change in 1 year just because you can’t add a synth or record 2 guitars and a voice at the same time.
I am not for brand the guy to follow as if I had to buy one it would be one of the SSL , love too much very good pre amps but that cost a bunch of money compared to an Audient.
I’m no expert, just a nerd, but @gkillmaster they’re all probably going to be very similar in functionality and quality. But the three have slightly different specs. So I think it probably comes down to…which extra features do you want? Look closer at the tech specs
The Volt has more line outputs. And the “legendary” preamp option for recording.
The Minifuse has an extra headphone jack and an extra usb port…and some good desktop software (if you use a computer)
The Studio is the cheapest. But still seems decent. I’m sure it’ll get the job done.
So: extra outputs, headphone jack and usb port, or save money.

I used RME in pro studio many years ago , very good but a bit overpriced to my opinion. But nobody here for iOS music need RME ?

Thanks, I was thinking I may only need 2 inputs but may multiple outputs would be helpful. I work in a studio so usually only record 1 track at a time.

Report back whenever you make your mind up! I had (and loved) the volt but I’m seriously looking at the MiniFuse so if you go with it, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
That’s a good suggestion, they advertise that line of products as having 2.5ms round trip latency at a buffer of 32 samples

Singer or musicians need a headphone and you need one. Life in studio record is full of surprises. If your budget is tight go to 4 or 6 output even made by a cheaper reliable brand rather than buying a more expensive brand with only 2 inputs.

If budget is a problem and I had to record , personally I will go to a reliable cheap audio brand like focusrite and will wait and save money for a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 3rd Gen that is around 500 usd , I know some pro that use it and they love it. In all brands you got gems.

But you need a PC or Mac OS not IPad ios but that give you an idea that at a studio audio interface is not so expensive.
So try one with 2 headphones jacks output and 4 to 6 inputs running on IPad iOS with an external power supply as USB doesn’t deliver a lot of power.
Nobody here needs:
-The lowest latency on ios?
-clean ad-convertors for their monitors and headphones?
-Transparent preamps that can go very loud?
-Inputs that can e switched from pre-amp to inst to line in?
-Great mixing/routing software that doesn't need a pc or mac to save (i'm looking at you steinberg & focusrite) settings?
-Ensurance that their audio interface will be supported till the end of time?
-Hardware that works great and stable on every platform?
Get a babyface pro fs or other rme interface and buy once is my opinion.
Just tell me the price of the RME you bought this is good but very high price for iOS music this is what I want to state. Here we are speaking more of affordable audio interfaces. If I remember the RME entry price is at least 1200 USD is it right ?
@robertssl For 1200 you get the fireface ucx ii (wich I got) here in the Netherlands. The babyface pro fs is 750 here. OP didn't mention affordable and I gave him my recommendation based on my personal experience with focusrite, steinberg and arturia. I will say that the audient is a good and less expensive alternative for high quality hardware preamps and good da conversion.
You bring up a good point. I heard they were more expensive in the USA.
1200 for the babyface pro would be a little on the pricey side but after all my (mis)adventures with focusrite, steinberg and arturia (audiofuse rev1) i still stand by my buy once comment, especially if you need clean pre-amps, good gain on you headphones and flexible routing for hardware (plus points if you want to use it for live mixing or recording straight to usb without any tablet or pc).
I'm not saying everyone here needs a rme but I do (respectfully ofcourse) disagree with the statement that nobody here needs one.
I agree with your point but in a brand like Focusrite you got good and bad. If you got the budget and you want to record seriously in the future it is always a good approach to save a bit and go for SSL, RME but if you are doing like me now all in the box no record at all you even don’t need an audio interface.
I choose now not to have any audio interface only to have IPad no desktop daw , not to use monitors speakers as my room is not fit to have good acoustic and I don’t want to invest to improve that , only the headphones I used for so many years. I train my ears everyday that the most important tool that I got.
I don’t use any Laptop or desktop computers anymore only iPad for all what I do I don’t like anymore mouse’s , track pad. MIDI surface controllers ( nothing to do with keyboards to play music that are useful ) for daws are not a good deal for me as they are limited and can become quickly obsolete or incompatible if Apple decide to upgrade an os or Logic.
I live in EU but for example SSL audio interfaces seems to be more expensive in US bases on sweatwater prices , certainly custom and other taxes as SSL products are export from UK.

The only RME interface that seems to have DC coupled outputs is the Fireface UCX II and it's $1,700. Thank you for your input though. I really do wish I could justify getting one!
Thanks, I did some reading and this looks like it could be a great solution but the Solo USB doesn't appear to have DC coupled outputs and only has 2 main outs as far as I can tell. I thought all UA interfaces were dc coupled but I couldn't find anything in the manual about it. Though only having 2 outs won't work if I want to send control voltages.
+1… MOTU M2 or M4 if you want more I/O. Not mentioned often enough (IMO) are the M series’ headphone amps, which are exceptional, and front panel metering, which is fast and precise.

as for me, sometimes i use iPad on stage, and just want it to sound good – i mean, really.
The Motu M2 latency is according to Julian Krause's video 5.8ms for 48kHz/32 samples and 9.1ms for 48kHz/64 samples. Which is more than average value in this price category.
For example my RME BabyFace Pro FS has almost doubled values on iPad Air 2022 than on PC with Intel i7-4790K
I have checked interfaces tested on his channel during last 3 years and here is 5 items with lowest RTL I have found there, alphabetically sorted.
Be aware that Julian tested them on Windows so RTL time is lower than on Mac or IOS thanks to ASIO drivers. So don't have these expectations
