iPhone 6 plus for iPad-type audio apps?
Anyone care to share their thoughts on the iPhone 6 plus (especially developers)?
I'm currently holding out for a new iPad, but I went to check out the new iPhones today and became a bit enamoured with the 6 plus. It's just big enough to be somewhat feasable for current iPad-only apps, with some UI modifications. For example, something like Gadget might work if you had a fullscreen view of the current gadget.
Landscape mode puts the phone into iPad territory, and Garageband looks decent enough on it. The downside is that it is still constrained by 1 GB of RAM.
I'm going to wait and see the specs of the upcoming iPad(s), but very interested in whether the 6 Plus has the potential to be the crossover device that puts in in the sweet spot of between practicality and portability.

I was looking at it also but went with the 128GB 6 since I have a iPad Air.
And for developers... Is there a third app compatibility platform? I mean, not we have iphone and ipa d apps, will be there plus app? Or it is still iphone app with plus detection, but still not ipad like?
That's an interesting point, @Goozoon. Apple's own Mail app displays differently in landscape orientationon the 6 and 6 Plus. Looks like developers will have to design screens for both. Whether they're different from each other in layout is up to the developer.
I also considered getting the plus to use as my all-in-one device but I use too many iPad only apps that I'm assuming wouldn't work on the plus. Until they figure out how to overcome this issue, the plus is still just a big iphone and not an iPad replacement. And I can't believe they decided to only give it 1GB ram.
I thought about it too and i tested the 6 plus today in an apple store but 5.5" is still far less then 9.7" or 7.9". I pad apps can't work this way. I also think no one will make iPhone 6 plus (beside a bit more keys on the keyboard) , iPhone AND iPad versions of one App. 1GB ram is still a joke. And believe me the 6 plus is nice but a giant brick in your pocket. I can save 999€ and spend it for VST, PS4 and a few other things i want
Developer here!
Apple has created features for us to specifically make use of the extra screen size on the iPhone 6 Plus, but it's up to us to actually do it. If we do nothing, the apps will scale up to take the full screen size automatically and "Just Work™", albeit with the same interface on the smaller iPhones. Since the iPhone 6 is so new I wouldn't expect many apps that take advantage of the extra space yet with added features, but I fully intend to with the apps I develop, and I assume most developers would too.
I seem to recall an early review of the 6+ by an iOS musician that said it wouldn't cut it like an iPad.

I just noticed the extra stuff on the qwerty keyboard on my 6 (not plus) when going landscape. Handy stuff. Looking forward to seeing how/if devs use the space.
