Sampled melody to multisample?

For a while Ive been thinking of this concept of sampling the melody (of some 70’s vinyl for instance ) and having an app that automatically detects the individual notes in the sample and puts them in the right keyzones and would round-robin samples of duplicate notes and pitch up or down samples for the missing notes.

Is there any app that will do this already?

  • Sounds like it could be interesting but…

I feel like I need more information. I kinda understand what you want, but how are the slices done? Equal parts or by transient? And it would depend on the instrument (or instruments) sample.

But off the top of my head, Klevgrand Tomofon seems to do something sort of like this, but I don’t think it’s quite how you mean. So, please explain a bit more. To be honest, it sounds more complicated than any app will be able to do “automatically” but it might be possible to do.

  • Definitely not by equal parts. Transients could work . ideally ai detecting open notes in a sample. But the way serato sample detects samples looks also very promising.

Tomofon is a cool idea, but its only an approximation of the sound. It could be interesting however to layer it with real multisamples.
