Route Donut into instrument?

edited December 2023 in Loopy Pro

Hi there,

I'm just dabbling into soundscaping and I guess it was unevitable that I come to a point where I have to route sounds. So ... I built a very very basic setup in which I imported a sample into the green donut, slapped an effect on it and tuned it.
However, I would like to send the signal (of the green donut or bus A) to an instrument like fluss (I could use fluss as an fx processor I know, but for arguments sake I want to feed the signal in) or king of fm or any other synth to use the built in effects of a given synth. Is there any way to make this happen or would I need aum for this?

Thank you and have a nice Sunday :-)

The only way to feed audio into another app in any host is if it is loaded as an FX. If the app can accept audio input then it will have an FX version. There is no other way. This is true for AUM as well?

  • Ahh thank you for clearing this up on the loopy pro side of things. I now know that I didn't miss anything here :-) Now we just need confirmation if this holds true for AUM as well, but your explaination makes perfect sense. The possibility to accept a signal in and process it through the internal fx has to be baked in the respective app.

It is true for AUM and all other hosts too. You can trust me on that. There simply is no routing mechanism for that.

I do trust you on this, I was just irritated by the question mark  thanks again!

Ha ha. Sorry, I didn't notice that. I didn't mean to make it a question. 🤦🏻‍♂️

  • You can pop it as an effect on a bus, though, and run the output to whatever colours you want to record to. Then use sends to that bus (and maybe disable idle for the effect, long press the on/off/idle button on the auv3 window)
