Recording YouTube into Koala (or other apps)
Dear ABF members, I'm searching for some way to record YouTube audio (or maybe also other sound sources) into Koala or some other app.
I saw a lot of discussions on this but it's not clear to me if they are still working or not, some seem abandoned and others broken.
It doesn't have to be a Auv3 (it would be better but I'm fine switching apps) but I absolutely don't want to record the screen and import, it should be "on the fly". Thanks!
Comments
The way I get audio from youtube videos is to screen record the video first then import to the Brusfri app. Brusfri gives you an option to extract the audio from a video. You can then export the extracted audio to Audioshare and from there anywhere you like. Works a treat for me.
Easiest way is to do a screen-recording and extract the audio.
If I recall correctly Koala should be able to extract audio directly from a screen-recording using the import video function in the hamburger menu.
Do you have a Mac? You could install BlackHole which allows you to route any audio output to any input. You can then save audio files and Airdrop to the device with Koala installed.
Media Assistant ( Auv3 ) does exactly what you ask.
Thank you @Spidericemidas, @Samu and @michael_m but I was looking for something iPad only without using screen recording.
@Gilbert thanks, exactly was I what looking for! Is it reliable?
It has been reliable for me.
As someone mentioned, Media Assistant can do that. Blue Mangoo has an app for that also.
And the same dev as MA has the Tube AU app which is just YouTube in audio unit form and it’s usually pretty stable for me.
I never knew Brusfi could do that
I think it has been designed for this use and there has been no issues for me too.
Easy to use:
1-open your sites/pages with video/audio content in the browser. ( You can save your site to Favorites, check the 3 dots menu )
2-turn off the volume icon to avoid the ads in YT. The audio(s) is anyway automatically streamed to the Stream Inspector
3-Tap Play and record snippets or all the audio file(s) in Koala or any similar app or the host itself ( Aum, etc... )
That's it.
Thank you @Gilbert @espiegel123. @HotStrange yeah, I saw that app from Blue Mangoo too but someone commented on its discussion saying that it's not working anymore, so I was wondering if it still works or not. Anyway, I'll probably go with Media Assistant since it's basically made for this.
The Blue Mangoo YouTube one doesn’t work but the web audio AU works fine. I’d recommend Media assistant as well though because it can do so much more besides.
How much is the Auv3 unlock for Media Assistant? I just want to sample the browser into Koala. In the app it shows that IAA + Auv3 is $9.99 but the app store lists read aloud + Auv3 for $.99?
The read aloud feature is a separate IAP and is $.99 but the $9.99 is the price to unlock AUV3.
