JWM - Project III (Lofi House in the OP-1 Field)

So here's my first track for my OP-1 Field EP. This is the first time I've attempted the Lofi House genre, so bear with me a bit here mates. A bit of cow on the piano, some punch on the drums, some mother on the high strings, and Nitro as my master effect.

I used the sequencers for the drums except the crash cymbals (easy enough to sync in time, lol). I also used endless for the bass since the bass has an LFO on it to emulate sidechaining. Bro, when I was looking for a nice lead to play on top of the strings, oh man I forgot which patch I selected, but it sounded so nice.

I recorded everything on the minidisk tape style, and after recording my mixdown, of course I recorded the output into Logic Pro via USB-C. LP4i is utterly indispensible to me at this point with its ability to record directly from the OP-1 Field and for its Mastering Assistant.

I'm still learning the art of live recording, but I had fun twiddling with Nitro's highpass filter during recording to the album prior to recording into LP4i.

Most importantly, I had fun working in my OP-1 Field. 🥰

  • yeah, you‘re not yet fluent in your new environment, but seem to get the hang on it B)
loosely reminded me on a non vocal version of Moloko’s Sing it Back between the original and the famous Dlugosh remix o:)

Lol, yep. Learning the OP-1 Field is like learning a new language, and this EP will be a bit of a showcase in where I started and to where I'm heading. One of those "growth" EPs if you will.

Cool! :) That's amazing praise. Cheers mate. Glad to hear from you. How've you been?

  • Hey I love this track. It's full of surprises like the synth line that enters around the 2:00 mark.
It reminds me of some of my favorite producers like Ellen Allien ("Take Me Out"). Thanks for posting.

Thanks mate. :) I just finished a new one which is Bass House. I'm still keeping things relatively simplistic for now for this EP but will spice things up moreso next EP. :) And yeah, I feel like the OP-1 Field is an extension of myself. Can't remember a time where I was able to start and finish a track in under two hours (that is, once I got the hang of the OP-1 Field).
