80s bass ambient

Had this basic bass loop from Riffler lying around for a while. Finally did something with it. :)

Riffler, Arpbud, Zeeon, VHS Synth

Started in AUM, continued in Cubasis, then in Mixcraft for more mixing.

  • Not sure what it reminds me of, but this track is very much 80s in all the best ways. :) (No sarcasm meant.) If I had one critique, I wouldn't call this track "Ambient" exactly, but honestly that's just me picking at straws. Bottom line - I love it. Well done. Very clear mix too. :)

  • Mix is too clear for signature 80s  , but the idea of focus on the bass is cool :+1:

  • It's that 80s gated snare. It drives me crazy, ooh oh. Nice track.

  • Loving the snare sound. Did you use the stock Cubasis drum sounds?

    Excellent work!

  • Yes very nice. Great use of Riffler. Even better on the second listen 👌

  • As a former bass player of 40 years, I always like a bass-focused song. I actually think this qualifies as Ambient by Brian Eno’s definition. He ought to know! I can either tune it out, listen very closely, or anything in between. Any scenario works.

Riffler is a blast. I think a little of the new Riffler Flow would sound nice in a few parts. Just my 2 cents.

Hehe, I was just wondering what to classify as and wasn’t too sure. Thanks for listening!

Thanks! I stumbled upon the riff and really wanted to highlight it.

I initially had a Hammerhead patch and pattern on it, but decided to try Ujam’s Vice once I moved the track to desktop. The pattern I teied added to the funky offbeat vibe so I decided to keep that. It also sounds more 80s than what I had originally. :)

Thank you for listening! Riffler remains irreplaceable for me when it comes to guitar and bass.

Other than when I input chord cadences, I treat Riffler very much like a radio station where I am changing the dial until something I like shows up. :)

Thanks for the suggestion on using Riffler Flow. I’m actually going to try it to see what happens. 👍
