Comments

  • Nice soundscape. I loved the twinkling melody.

  • Sounds really good

  • Great urban journey

  • I love it, but only after the 2:00 mark. It’s so nostalgic and spacious. I didn’t expect this from you, it was a wonderful surprise for me. Bravo! 🤩

  • Thank you @jdp000 @animalelder @JanKun
@luxthor to be honest it came out as a bit of a surprise to me when I decide for some unknown reason to add the bass/drums, and the rest just came naturally. That style is not something I do often because I have no solid knowledge of writing for drums other than some very basic jazz-ish stuff. Thanks to the “drummers” in Logic maybe I can now.

  • The album being done, all the tracks have been a little rewritten, this one I restarted almost from scratch. I think I like it much more now:

  • Well done, Joseph. You can do anything.

  • @LinearLineman thanks. At least I’m trying.

  • Such a great change of pace and feel at the 2 minuteish mark, very uplifting 👏

  • Now that’s something different, every section is an unbreakable part of the whole. The introduction is phenomenal, building that anticipation until everything explodes in that nostalgic groove. The ending is perfect. I already said it, I love this genre, and you are doing it very well. 🤩

  • Did you watch this, Joseph? Of course the kid is improvising, not composing. But, I think, even composing we just have to get our judgmental self out of the way. A baby thinks he’s the center of the universe. Judgement hasn’t been imposed on his mind by parental teaching…. Yet. Obviously you have no trouble making good music. Your self judgement, which, I’ve come to understand, can b pretty harsh, hasn’t derailed you. That’s the right kind of trying, IMHO. The great lesson my late teacher, imparted to me, was how to minimize my judgemental mind… though if you asked me how she did it I couldn’t be specific, except to say she pointed it out and was the most affirming teacher one could ever want. I guess you could say she set me on a path.

  • Thank you so much @Luxthor. I really wasn’t fond of the first version after too much listening, I needed to fix it.

@LinearLineman : holly shit! My piano teacher had to literally hit me on the neck to get anything out of me. And that kid…

  • lol, Joseph, I won the lottery for jazz improv teachers. I’m forever grateful. I’m glad your teacher didn’t destroy your interest in music. It happens all the time, unfortunately. My first teacher, at age 10, told my mom she was wasting her money on me.
