Cubasis 3.6 - How to Use the Halion Sonic VX Key Switch Articulations

Really useful feature, we can now use different articulations in a few different Halion Sonic instruments and control them with Key Switches.

I'm not sure but I think VX means the switch works as long as you press the "switch".
There are many many more instruments with the switch function but on those a keypress means it stays so till you interrupt it, either with another switch or sometimes time (fading out.) I tried to find a manual on the subject but failed. 😳
    Thanks for the video.

  • @Pxlhg It works as long as you hold the key down, as soon as you let go of the key it goes back to default, so if you draw a midi note in at four bars long, the articulation associated with that key will last four bars, as soon as that ends it will revert to the default.

He he, I know, that's what I'm saying (but obviously expressed poorly). The ones that doesn't have VX in the name however works like this: you only have to press on it once to activate a switch, so a short note would suffice. Try 'Stadium Rock Guitar' as an example.

  • Can we have an updated video with Bass instruments and KeySwitch Articulations, if any? Thanks..

  • Hi all,

    Key Switches
Some of the HALion Sonic Selection factory presets include key switches, which allow to switch between samples while playing. An orange-brown color indicates that a key on the internal keyboard is a key switch. There are two types of key switch presets: Some presets have key switch keys that need to be held down while playing regular notes, while others just need to be pressed once to enable their sample.

    Hope that helps!

    Best,
    Lars

  • Thanks for another great Cubasis review clip @thesoundtestroom!!

I must be delusional, I thought I wrote just that, in simple plain English. Back to school I guess 😉
