What gives with new iFretless Guitar?
I can’t load it as an AU, which is what it is now supposed to be, on either AUM or Audiobus. It fails with ‘couldn’t communicate with a helper app.’
Comments
Did you try opening it first in standalone mode?
For me it works in Aum.
Have you rebooted?
What OS are you running?
I had the same issue. Deleted, reinstalled resolved the problem for me. I notified the developer.
Somewhat unrelated but I have an issue where it goes PING whenever I either switch to another app or slide the node to bypass it in AUM. Also sounds like there is a stuck note at a low volume when that happens. Anyone else experiencing this?
I’ve just had a quick play to see, and it doesn’t seem to be happening here.
I agree @oddSTAR , if your holding a note when you close the window the note you were playing sounds when you reopen the window and the high ping (its a G#5) when you close it.
Also,if you click double click the header bar you get the note you played when it minimises and a D#5 when it maximises… hours of fun 😊
I’ve passed this onto the developer via their website.
Solved: see GRiker’s comment, containing advice that worked for me.
Not to hijack your thread OP, just trying to find the latest thread on iFretless Guitar. Just grabbed it after liking what I heard on Doug's and the devs YouTube vids however I am a little puzzled as it seems the earlier non auV3 version(s) had a bunch of other options available, particularly settings for "power chords". Not sure what they do as it never seemed to be properly demoed in the devs vid. Also is there a way to strum in the app?
Thanks kids!
iFretless apps don’t strum. GeoShred added a strum feature recently, which I haven’t really extensively tried yet. It’s a difficult puzzle that has yet to be solved really well on iPadOS in my opinion. There are more options on desktop for this sort of thing so far.
No strum, but you can play chords reasonably easily. I don’t remember the power chords stuff in the old one, so I can’t help with that. Though I guess once you’ve made the chord shape sliding it up and down the strings should be doable - I tend to only do two strings at a time for that kind of thing, but then I’m largely incompetent…
@Cambler , I’ve knocked up a quick video that shows how to use GeoShred to simultaneously play and strum iFretless Guitar. hope it helps somebody 😊 Feel free to ask questions…
More details in the YouTube comment…
Ok, I must have gotten confused from the old blue mangoo video and that "power chord" button. Yes I need to play more with the strum function in GeoShred. Speaking of it looks like Geotony has posted something special below!
I've started to try this method and can see I'm going to need some practice to make it sound believable. Your two strings at a time approach sounds like it aligns with my own level of incompetence so will work on that for starters
@GeoTony you absolute legend! This is perfect. Why do I always forget about Geoshred as a midi controller?! Thank you so much for doing this. Not in front of my iPad at the moment ut when I am I'll be strumming the daylights out of it
If that video doesn't sell some iFretless and GeoShread, I'll eat my shorts.
I believe your shorts are safe Wim! Now I’m wondering about iFretless Brass…
Awesome
