foot controller for ipad volume

I want to be able to control the volume of drum tracks on an ipad going through the PA with a foot controller. I'm using an old app called Livetrax. Could I do this with an iRig Blueboard

Strictly speaking to the thread title, the iPad volume can't be controlled by the Blueboard. By that I mean, the overall output level as you would change it with the volume buttons. But, if LiveTrax can respond to MIDI input to change its own volume level then the Blueboard may be able to do that.

You can connect an expression pedal to the iRig Blueboard. It will send CC #12 or CC #13 depending on which of the two jacks it's plugged into. I can't find a manual (or even a working web-site for that app) to say whether LiveTrax can use either of those to control its volume.

  • Thanks for this. Unfortunately support for Livetrax was discontinued some time ago. I think its unlikely that Livetrax will be midi enabled, it's really just a playback machine for playlists. I wonder if there is an in-line volume control that might work?

  • Sure, there are plenty of passive volume pedals available that you could put in your signal chain. Just google Passive Volume Pedal, but be sure that it's an actual volume pedal, not a midi expression pedal.

  • Yes. You can select a 4 range CC bank. And then affect a Cc to your expression pedal.

I have 2 BB, but prefer my Roland FC-300 (Irig BB App sucks..)
